The worst is when I walk into a costume store and everything is "sexy ____. " Some look more like lingerie than actual Halloween costumes.

I never buy a fully assembled costume, i buy parts and make my own thing. Last year, I had green fairy wings, green hair dye, a wand, and a shirt and tie. I was Cosmo. Cost me a total of like 20 bucks This year, i have a black morph suit, a shirt and bow tie, black and white facepaint, one of those cheap black feather boas from the craft section, and black athletic tape. i'll be Mr. Mistoffelees from Cats. Costs a FUCKING LOT MORE THAN 20 DOLLARS WHY DID I THINK OF THIS?! the morph suit alone was 30 bucks like damn

In 6th grade I was female Sherlock Holmes. Or typical vintage detective. I made a plaid skirt and I wore a white button down shirt. I also got a hat and a magnifying glass and wore a trench coat. The only thing I had to buy was fabric and elastic to make the skirt!

My mother sewed all my costumes. One year I was the yellow Power Ranger (Trini) with an actual fabric mask. Quite fun, but annoying to wear. My mother was actually cheap and smart. She sewed a basic black "dress" and separate cape piece. Add sequins or another mask or a hat, and bam, instant witch, devil, NUN and grim reaper. It was easy to wear too, and actually fit me, unlike store bought costumes. Probably why I like cosplay now. :D

I've made my costumes since i was like 12, I was a pirate this year and all i bought was a ten dollar pirate hat, the rest was stuff i had, a poofy peasant top, a long skirt that i don't even know why i have, black boots, white leggings, a large squeare scarf i wrapped around my waist, a bandana for my head, a sword i made out of cardboard tinfoil and leftover ribbon and sequins, and a necklace made of random things i've gathered.
