I'm from south jersey and I was never allowed to participate in mischief night. my old neighborhood there was this house that decked out their garage like a haunted house and you had go to all the way to the back of it past decapitated heads and chain saws and what not to get the king sized candy bars. the dad and oldest son would chase people around the neighborhood with chain saws.

@@CraftyWitch1990 it's a much better thing to do mate trick or treating just pisses people off its basically a night long ding dong dich (which is harassment) where people go around begging not to mention its dangerous. Luckily it doesn't happen a lot in my area.

I lived in a small village as a kid. And everyone knew everyone. I would get bags and bags full of sweets. Sometimes I'd drop my three bags full off at mine or my grans and get another and continue to go out to get more sweets. I don't understand how I got so much considering it was a small village 😂 there wasn't many people to get sweets from but it happened haha also when we went to someone's house we would have to sing or tell a joke before getting the sweets.

+Vito vit no I did not say all of New Jersey, just a town a couple towns over from me,the rest of New Jersey does what they want but In the three towns I've grown up in they don't do it, but if you do somehow get tp'd it's usually by someone you know, not some random teenager.

We also have mischief night in the north of the uk,much more extreme though like people putting fireworks through letterboxes

I love your "professional" outlook on Trick or Treating, Evan. My kids have a system that we use each year. 1st, my son's birthday is on Halloween, so he figured out early on that if he mentions it at each house, he often gets extra (he is now turning 12, so he has had years of exploitation of this). 2nd, they use the smaller pumpkin buckets or bags and each has a large paper grocery sack in the trunk of my car marked with their names (we live in an area where it is often rainy, so we always take the car around). Periodically throughout the night they "download" into the paper bags and continue. They started this because they noticed if they looked like they had less candy, some people take pity on them and give extra, lol. We usually do themed costumes. This year is all Harry Potter! Can't wait!

Mischief night. I love it. I grew up in Michigan and we did the same thing but it was called devils night.

Oh man, I could talk about this subject for HOURS! I used to work for an events company as a zombie at The Vaults and in the abandoned underground tunnels at Waterloo Station. It was so creepy, I loved it! I've also worked at Tulleys and Thorpe as a scare actor over the years. Halloween is definitely my favourite time of the year, but America does it so much better.

I still think I had the best costume.... I was a vending machine one year

Yeah i used to make out like a bandit on Halloween because my neighbors down a few houses from mine would rent like a trailer or whatever that they would drive all us neighborhood kids around in. We would get so much candy that even tough most of us used pillowcases we'd have to stop back in with our parents in our cul-de-sac to drop off candy so we had enough room for more. This was compounded by the fact that our neighborhood gave out good candy. Like, people would come, and still do come to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood because the candy was so good.

Up here in Scotland they’ve got this event called ‘Ness Islands’ which is this promenade across these small islands on the river ness where a bunch of theatre groups dress up and do Halloween acts that are pretty good.

Me and my siblings used to trade candy! Twix was always worth the most.

I remember a couple of years ago a house had run out of candy so they gave me half a pack of cookies and a Red Bull 😂😂

I live in North Carolina and we have an amusement park on the border of North and South Carolina called Carowinds. During Halloween time it becomes Scarowinds and I literally love it so much!!! There's the usual roller coasters plus spook trails and haunted areas. The sliders are my favorites though. They're actors who can jump out at you but they have knee pads and shoes that spark so they slide in front of groups to scare them. Oh yeah, the entire park is filled with actors that are allowed to freak you out any way they can. Obviously you can buy necklaces that tell them not to scare you, but most people just accept it.

candy corn is a really difficult consistency to describe. It's kind of like fondant icing for cakes but a little more solid. It's like this weird, grainy, waxy texture.

I'm from New York State and I had never heard of Mischief Night before I met my friends from New Jersey. It's not a thing in the rest of the US

When you're from Scotland and go 'guising'. Also, I had to do something to earn my sweets. I mean you HAD to either say a poem/joke/sing etc haha

I hate having to go to the door because they always expect you to say something so you say "Trick or treat." and there's always that one adult that goes "It's called guising :))))" and you're just silently dying because you can't just fucking scream "GUISING!" when they open the door.

I just found out that apparently my country (Scotland) invented Halloween. we used to go guising. It's like trick or treating you dress up but when you go to the house you say penny for the guise? Then they give you money (just some coins not a lot) and we used to carve turnips. Nowadays it's just trick or treating but we still carve turnips it's just pumpkins are more popular. Some people give you a few coins but it's mostly sweeties

Cameron Beattie think you're muddling up two holidays. "Penny for the Guy" is the phrase and it was used to collect money for fireworks on bonfire night in order to blow up the homemade Guy dummy. Guising was for a different festival and would solicit food generally.

Sammi McSporran well where I come from it was penny for the (dis) guise- as in costume. Never heard of anything like that on bonfire night where I'm from (Aberdeenshire btw)

in Canada, Thanksgiving would be in October so pumpkin carving and costume making could happen whenever but decorating or any social event would have to start after.

I used to live in New Jersey where Mischief Night was SO intense, like if you didn't put your pumpkins inside before Mischief Night they were going to get smashed, and the next morning all the trees in the neighborhood were TP'd and some cars /houses got egged, the bus stop was covered in ketchup 'blood'. Then I moved to PA and we were all prepared putting our pumpkins inside and nothing happened!! I've lived here for 12 years now and no one ever does mischief night. It felt like the state equivalent of culture shock lmao. New Jersey was always a strange place...

I was *so* with Evan on Reese's PB cups. Absolute gold. And I like candy corn too.

I'm from northern nj and we call mischief night "goosey night", in my neighborhood, our keyboarding teacher would have us do a trick in order to get a treat. another guy in the neighborhood would just give out soda cans. picking pumpkins and hayrides were a must. at one halloween party we bobbed for apples. but I feel like a lot of people don't do that.

I was the “oh we gotta go here” house on Halloween, king sized chocolate bars, kinder eggs, and one year we did the chocolate bars and then stuff like, action figures(my classmate got Robbin), hats and my personal favourite, we gave my friends sister Star Trek socks😂
