@knitterknerd
Жыл бұрын
@@ToeTag1968 I don't think I could call it low hanging fruit, personally. Yeah, it's been done a lot, and it's pretty much always going to sound good, so I do get your point. But the bar is incredibly high. If you don't bring something completely new to it _and_ do it perfectly, people aren't going to be satisfied, because they've heard better. A lot of my favorite song covers are from PMJ, largely because that's exactly what they do: they make songs new and perform them at a staggeringly high level. PMJ still didn't quite match up to my personal favorite cover of this song, which really says something. It was still absolutely worth doing, as so many commenters are saying it's the first version that's really resonated with them.
Today I switched on this song to my mom, 71 years old woman from Ukraine, she doesn't understand English, but she was crying astonished with the beauty of this musical composition and video, she told ne it was an incredible experience. Thanks a million for what you're doing.💙💛

This is a late comment to this video and I have two thoughts. First, when I saw the video appear on KZread, I initially thought that we didn't need another interpretation of this song. I was totally wrong. Bravo, Scott et al. Brilliant work. Second, like a commenter above, I saw PMJ on tour a couple of weeks ago-- in Stockholm. Effie Passero delivered one of the most extraordinary live performances that I have ever seen. She absolutely stunned the audience. We all wept. If you have a chance to see her perform, do not miss it. Her rendition of Creep to close the show was also spectacular. With both of these tunes, she easily matches the talent of those who have performed it before, but she adds an emotion and a personal connection to the music that is absolutely staggering. I am so fortunate to have been in that audience. Thank you.

As amazing as this version is, I will go and listen to the original, and finally, listen to Jeff Buckley's.
