@@bobjohns8914 Yes, more is more. But the cultural significance of the chosen hull lenght simply cannot be underestimated. In my book it’s the OG reference. But then, I’m old. 77 just doesn’t do it for me like the good old 69.

It was bloody cold, but it looks absolutely stunning in these conditions! I work with Elvstrøm Sails and was on the HR69 a week or two before this. What a machine.

Sadly, the majority of us can only dream of a yacht like this. A fabulous blue water cruiser, it is nice to dream. Oh, well, back to the Contessa when the spring arrives. Great video, you are a lucky man Toby.

Very practical boat. I admit that I drool over the interior of Oysters HOWEVER, for anything that is expensive to acquire AND to maintain, form must follow function. I do like the desk area in this HR69 in the aft master cabin but those Seascape windows are beautiful.

Well done Toby and Magnus too. Better buy a lottery ticket this weekend.

Beautiful boat. There's a character and quality to this boat which is so different to many of the boats you review.

"Plenty to hold on to" - shows a vast, empty space devoid of anything. Jokes aside (and slippery foredeck), this is my favorite HR yet

Outstanding as always, brother Toby.

Nice film - dream machine. Suprised the deck seemed devoid of an attachment point for an extra forestay - would be handy for a smaller upwind sail or a storm jib.

A class of its own...fantastic boat and finish, thanks for sharing those impressions.

Yes please!!! I was waiting for Toby's review or first impressions with the brand new HR69. I've just watched the HR full presentation of the boat. But i was wondering what would Toby think about it? Im watchting at the moment the review, but for what i have seen, this boat seems to be the ultimate bluewater cruiser, a go anywhere boat. And with the interior of the boat.... My god, i get in love with it. You can feel the quality and a rock solid build, and so many clever solutions. What i don't really like, was the heads dispossal, without windows or some ventilation. That's my only complain. How fortunate people that can sail in these type of wonderful machines. Very, very complete review Toby, this boat deserves it.

After my rather impulsive comment at the moment I found this video and after watching, I'd like to say I really like your take on these topics. And being partial towards this brand I was awaiting your input since I learned you were reviewing this particular yacht. So, concerning a few aspects of this interesting vessel. I've reinforced the idea that the hardtop is, for me personally, a must on an Hallberg-Rassy. Not only it confers a seaworthy look, it sits beautifully on her and it brings undeniable advantages on safety and comfort. I really liked the notion of having a permanent man on watch at the mast, particularly one with such keen eyesight. And the speed numbers, impressive. As for the rest, the quality, the comfort, the overall aesthetic I really have nothing to add, those speak for themselves. Thank you very much for this excellent review. Cheers.

I live in Stockholm Sweden and used to sail a lot, miss it so much... That is one lovely boat... I was looking at a Maxi 1100 before reality gave me a hard check.

Thanks so much for this video. I love HR boats. We'll just assume there is great insulation on that boat to not be dripping with condensation and being freezing cold. Lots of detail you have to assume. It will be amusing to watch people rant about how HR missed this or that - aren't innovating - blah blah blah. They sell everything they can build. That's what success is.

In the interior all corners are rounded, very nice to avoid injuries or pain if you fall or bounce around

By the look and sound of you , you have fallen in love big time. Beautifull yacht and quality finishes with ease of sailing ... it's just the price (complaining , not complaining lol) and nowhere to store the pots and pans that get me.. Thanks for the tour and video.

What a boat!

nice one TH, im not big on HR but is a nice boat ... as usual for HR, nicer inside (nice one with the pump!) than outside. Two Lew 80s run the code, if you need to pull the jib out to vent the code off .. there are no winches left? .. no traveller ... and the flat fore deck...on heavy seas looks like the perfect place for the bowman to fly away on the first wave :)

Impressive yacht, sailing as well as with ingenious solutions. Very nice report w/ almost a minute of video for a foot of boat length. Btw. some buckets of sea water do wonders on an icy deck.

There is no question about Hallberg-Rassy's seaworthiness and quality. Even knowing that, I can't find a way to like the cockpit design of any of their yachts. That engine room, on this yacht, is definitely something else.

She is not a boat. She is a full blown Ship. Excellence!

Could agree more on water pump point. Why could they not put it in the engine room, proximity perhaps? And insulate.

Amazing result from HR and nice overview Toby. You mentioned the engine is oversized to run at lower revs. Is that to reduce noise or fuel consumption or..?

I’m wondering if the weight saving value of the carbon fiber mast isn’t significantly reduced by the choice of in-mast furling instead of a boom furling or even an old fashioned stack pack slab reef system?

Beautiful yacht. The water pump noise would drive me nuts having dropped €4m. That needs sorting.

As much as I love Hallberg Rassy, at five million Euros… I would be making my way to KM & Dykstra for a custom build.

@@johanhofstedt7317 Considering Gerry Dykstra is one of the industry’s top designers that has raced and sailed all over the globe himself, in yachts he designed himself, I am certain I would be more than happy. When Skip Novak wanted to continue his evolution of the Pelagic yachts he chose KM yachts to do the build…. So no, I am definitely not a better designer than anyone at HR (all of HR’s models have in recent times have been designed by German Frers). HR has perfected the production line building process for off the shelf boats… but at well over €5 million I know where I would prefer to have a vessel built

Is there a reason why you don't see very many boats with leather or doe skin for the interior upholstery? Does it crack faster on a boat vs a vehicle?

IF? IF I ver won a substantial amount of money???😂😂😂😂😂 This is the kind of boat I’d buy. Only thing I don’t like is the two seats in the salon on the port side. I’d have to do something different with that. Luv these mid mounted cabin/ steering set ups. The rear deck is massive so great for parties an BBQs, great wide walk ways an plenty to hang onto. That main mast setup is great from a Diabled point of view. Wish we had that on our Windrider.😂😂😂 Is the heating inside, underfloor?? An insulation about 60-70mm foam block or sprayed?? Oh the other thing I’d have is rain showers from Celing. Can they fit incinerating heads, instead of elec or pumper dumpers ? Could easy spend rest of my life pottering around the word on one of these beauties. How long from phone call to sailing?? 6-9 mnths???

I do hope Ark-a-pilago is some kind of naff etonian joke pronounciation.

Beautiful blue water yacht build by craftsmen. I'd make a few small changes but generally a real gem to sail around the world. An expensive toy not likely to be taken up by the wealthy as a world cruiser. Smaller H.B-R. yachts are probably better value.

Great boat great review but damn it looks so cold my freezer doesn't look that cold ,Thank god that i live in Australia ,That kitchen needs to be bigger for more pots and pans space with a walk in pantry for more starage for foods and have all the fridges in there making up space for bread makers & storage,A thought through well designed kitchen is a must all he did was copy and paste the old kitchens ,Is it nice yes but could be better is all i'm saying,The kitchen is the wow factor of a boat in my eyes !!

Walk in pantry? Stay on land, buddy, you're clearly not a sailor. Bread maker? Are you daft? The only thing you knead for making bread is a bowl for mixing, somewhere to ferment and an oven.

Why do they use plastic ventilation hoods on deck?. - Bathareas are traditionally lovelessly designed too at Hallberg Rassy, a lot of white plastic as well. I do not understand that on a yacht like that.

Do they come in pink? If so I want two. Oops hold the hoist at my yard will only lift 44 tons.

Every man who dreams about sailing deserve to get it at some day. Not spending millions on some fancy cars and houses. But sadly it is so hard to get one beautiful yacht if it is not 20-30 years old at 36’ size. I personally dream about oyster 675, changing my lifestyle and job in attempt to get money for her

The big thing that puts me off the boat is a mast furler. I could never own a boat with an in mast furler.
