Hallberg Rassy 57 BOAT TOUR & Review- This Boat Can Take You ANYWHERE
Welcome to our boat tour and review of the Hallberg Rassy 57. This really is the ultimate go-anywhere cruiser. You wanna sail to Patagonia or do the North West passage? This should be on your shortlist. Conversely, she would be just as happy sailing the Caribbean or even sticking to her local cruising ground in the Baltic. This boat can take you anywhere. However, it isn't perfect. Check out the video for our thoughts.

I’ve watched every video of yours. I know you probably don’t have a choice, but I miss your wonderful sailing videos. Love them.❤️ These build videos and 2021 boat reviews are well… they are what they are. Looking forward to you guys doing what you do best. There is a compliment in there somewhere!
I want Nick to review a Kracken 50’
HR-57 is genuinely beautiful. Hallberg-Rassy has spent much effort on the interior to please the eye. Nevertheless, I am still surprised that all live-aboard necessities and serious worldwide add-ons are scaled-down in this basic configuration. Thus, I would expect another 10-15% in additional money to make this sailing queen a ready-to-go and, indeed, an ocean-going vessel.
Beautiful boat. Great overview.
Oh! Epic timing. 🤙🏼💯🍻
STUN-NING !!
As a Swede, I'm proud of HR. Rolls Royce of the oceans as they're known here. For local cruises a smaller HR or Najad might be better. For going around the world, I'd consider HH cats or Amel 50 or 60. If money is of no importance.

Esthetically, HR is the Rolls Royce of the cruisers and AMEL are like practical Renaults made in France...
I would like to know your opinion about the catamaran HH 44 and compare it with the Seawind 1370 in the foreseeable future. I think it would be interesting for subscribers just watching your channel. I apologize for my English as I am writing through a translator

Awesome
I'd like an HR57 layout (Especially aft cabin workplace and engine room) with Oyster hull/ saloon windows and decor and maybe Amel seawater single through hull management system. Would be interested what 'best bits' you guys would pick for the perfect 55-60ft monohull circumnavigator. Catamarans excluded...

I'm not in love with the 8 foot draft. Obviously, the larger the boat the draft gets deeper too unless a centerboard type arrangement is engineered for it. I would not be a fan of the shoal draft version either due to performance degradation. I think that is the one thing that would drive me into a multihull. From your experience, how deep is too deep?
Really surprised you guys haven't looked into the kraken lineup if you're looking at true Bluewater monohauls.

BC it won’t get as many clicks. These guys are building a boat they need cash flow.
You're not coming back to sailing are you Nick?
I love your reviews, if only because - at least in my conservative cruising opinion - they are transparant and objective. Well done! Harry (Nicholson 35/122)
Prachtige boot🎉maar een Rustler 57 er naast.dan wordt de keuze moeilijk 😂😂
The Chanel top-n is using your top ten catamaran video
For that kind of money, I'd hire a naval architect then go to Vietnam and build my own custom cruising trimaran. Still, she's absolutely beautiful and the craftsmanship definitely shows. For some people, this represents the ideal boat.

Hello guys haven't been here in a while
I would chose an Oyster 565 - and I owned already a HR.
Be happier when your boat is done buds
Wow what is not to like. It is like looking at a Rolls Royce or Bentley, luxury, luxury, luxury, but in a somewhat stoggy solid well built style.
No question about Rassy's quality but I can't find a way to like the interior and cockpit design layouts.
Gor ocean crossing give me a steering view or enclosed cockpit
Fantastic boat and unlike, Oysters and Discoveries, NO BALSA wood.
A very nice boat - if I were looking for a monohull (and a rich man...) I probably would choose a HR. One thing would interest me would be the comparison to the 50. What would be the advantages of going with the 57, the interior layout looks very similar - at least on the layout plans. How does it feel when you are actually on those boats?

No lazarette on hr50.
As a person with a bit of claustrophobia I would like the sink to be on the port exterior wall so the the inner wall could be opened entirely to the engine room. Don't want to be flopping around at sea in a small space. Secondly. I like to sit on the top step and if I bend over see my nav station. On colder watches it is nice to be in the warmth with the hatch pulled back to me. Two important aspects I'm looking for in a good boat.
Very nice, but not awesome. HR is following the hull design fashion of an excessively wide stern, and I agree with Nick and others that this design prioritizes space below over best sailing qualities. The overall design lacks the aesthetic appeal of the Hylas 57 or the Oyster 565, but it could be a better serious blue water cruiser. I like that the helm is part of the cockpit, I don't believe in segregation :).
I’d buy a Rapido and leave a million dollars in the bank.
Twin fins, No
Great review! But would I buy this……nope. Just feels like living in a stately home, ringing the bell for Jeeves and wearing my tux all day! 🤣 Many more yachts for that price, that offer more contemporary designs/layouts.
Nice but
You get what you pay for in life
Twin helms in a center cockpit seems like a waste of space.
Oh, yes please! Anyone lend me a few pounds? Maybe a bit more. I'll send you pics of where I end up

No. But thanks for the compliment. When I like a boat I’ll tell the audience. When I hate a boat I’ll tell the audience. When there are flaws in a boat I’ll tell the audience. I’m not paid through selling advertising space to the manufacturers like yachting magazines.
How is this boat better than a Hanse 588 for a third of the price?
You just burnt HR in a review a few weeks ago? What’s different ?
@peterherth7379

As I understood the previous video, it is a matter of the concept. The 57 has a protected center cockpit, nice cabins, the 400 showed had an unprotected aft cockpit and rather small cabins as if it was targetting charter usage. So the 400 is a great weekend boat, but not so much around the world cruiser. Probably thats the reason HR also offers a 40 foot boat with a center cockpit and a proper aft cabin.

@@peterherth7379 fair points. But still bolt on keel and twin blade rudder. 😦
Another absolute waste of money having two helm stations - this is a cruiser, not a racer and as it is centre cockpit, no need for the walk through to the transom. Just needs one helm in the centre and half the navigation and controls. Otherwise, beautiful and typical H-R quality.

To each their own, but a lot of us spent their working years racing Wednesday nights and both prefer the characteristics of twin rudder/wheel. There’s a reason the performance cruiser market is as strong as it is. It’s a little out of place on a HR relative to an oyster for example, but the pros and cons are the same. The space issue is a trade off between quantity and quality. You give up some deck space aft of the center cockpit but in exchange the center area is clear to walk through from the cockpit to the swim platform for very usable space. I will say it would be nice if it was an option. Like everything yacht design related, it comes down to a trade off. In this case you trade some total space more useable space, much better visibility and improved sailing feel, and a huge uninterrupted lazaret. Some prefer, some don’t. Options are good. But waste of space? No way. A 60’ has enough rock on deck to trade some quantity for quality, but on a 45’ I’d agree. Waste of money? I mean… we’re talking about a $2+M boat here, and we are worried about a few thousand in redundant electronics?
This Boat Can Take You ANYWHERE.... as long as there are 3 meters of water...
SWEET Ride for Sure...BUT Still not for me....( If I was made of Money)
