    I got to tell you I really appreciate how much living and social space one can add to your yacht, by lowering the ceiling height in the sleeping quarters in the front. Super super clever it's like having some extra magic space only found at Hogwarts. I imagine there was a lot of discussion but in the end no one sleeps, standing up. Very clever. I might as well just comment also on that Motel 6 comment. That's a matter of opinion. I've been looking at a lot of interior's lately and this is one of my favorites. My old company was to repair 40 ft RVs and my biggest complaint is so many pricey yacht Interiors, look too similar to RV Interiors. Yours absolutely does not, it looks wonderful! Finally after repairing miles and miles of electrical line for the past 30 years, 100% I love that pannle! I wouldn't have it any other way. It just makes me so comfortable staring at that thing. It's almost like if I was blind I could just have my kid next to me read the labels, and I could still fix the electrical headache. Great job guys!

My opinion from far? You have a great design concept, specially the scene with the electric equickment, a really nice work, let comes up trusting in, Hylas is investing much into the building quality. I REALLY like this video. First, I like this guy. Unlike the vast majority of his compatriots he can actually speak English. Very few, if any, "uhm" and "like". NO idiotic use of long words that is such a popular "intelligence crutch" in America, like "refrigeration" instead of "refrigerator" or "navigatorium" (yes, YOU, Sue Grant!). He doesn't try to sell his boat at any cost and, while he mentions major features, he also admits other boats have them as well. If you listen to other reviwers of other brands, HELL, even a helm is a revolutionary novelty they invented. (Yes, I'm talking about YOU, Mr. Sheahan and Oyster Yachts?) AND he actually THOUGHT about what he was going to say in this video. Very nice, concise narration. I wish he explained who "Bill" is that he mentions all the time, but I suspect that's the owner of the company or the designer of the boat. THE BOAT I really like. The hardtop and retractable shade is a good idea, the sliding windows are NOT. They will get stuck in those tracks all the time. Two autohelms is a good idea, except those things cost an arm and a leg. I remember the ancient Autohelm 5000 was around 3 grand. How much modern ones cost I don't even want to think about. I really like the forward helms. HATE hanging off the transom to steer. (Yes, YOU, pretty much everyone.) The fully duplicated controls are GREAT! It's REALLY annoying to have to run across the deck when docking in a tight marina (hello, Greece). If I was to think of one drawback, I would make them NOT mirror but actually a full copy with the throttle controls on the right on BOTH sides. But good idea even as it is. So, thank you for this review and hope it sells well and you keep your job, dear sir. 🙂

    Lol, Bill Dixon is one of the most famous yacht designers out there and the reason they are not mentioning his last name is that every potential buyer for this kind of yacht would know it. Also, I doubt the two autopilots at 7k each is whats going to break the bank on a $2,5 million boat...

  • @Maloy7800

    @@BilldalSWE I'm a "potential buyer of this kind of yacht" but I have no idea who Bill Dixon is. As for the price you are forgetting one important thing. With yachts, 2.5 million will be 500k VERY soon. Want a link to a 50k euro Amel 54? And THEN it will be a problem.

  • @BilldalSWE

    @BilldalSWE

    @@Maloy7800 No you're not lol. No one shops in this segment over regular production boats at less than half the price if you don't know something about the business and the people that work in it. Or at least make an effort (aka spend 5min on google) to learn something about them. Also, 2,5 million is not going to be 500k VERY soon for high quality boats with small, limited production runs. As an example a 2007 Hallberg Rassy 54 (so 17 years old) is 700k-900k today and was sold for 1 million euro when new. Even With inflation it's still 65% of the new price. And yes please link me an Amel 54 for 50k... I think you mean 500k, lol. Also, the thing with 2 autopilots is you don't have to replace both of them 15-20 years down the line if they break. You can replace one and cruise with one like you wanted in the first place. Or you can just buy used ones for a fraction of the price.

Your views on this would be appreciated. Secondly, the owners cabin bed looks quite small (might be because of the camera used). Just how wide is it? How much total power do the Lithium batteries supply and is there an upgrade in terms capacity. Same question for the solar panels. Thank you 👍

    I just dug deep with this video. As an Electrical Engineer and many industrial system designs behind my belt I'd have to say your electrical panels are neat but lacking, there are no wire labels that I saw anyway. I should be able to see that wire label and be able to determine the section, page number and line that terminal is on in the prints. Very important in case a wire comes loose or a catastrophe event happens. I"ve experienced trouble shooting third party systems where the prints and wire labels were not accurate, talk about a nightmare, Imagine that issue underway.

  • @johnmagnan759
    @johnmagnan759 Жыл бұрын

    Nice electrical panel but I saw no wire labels? Can't tell you how many times I have gone into a panel and wires have worked themselves loose from their terminals. No label no idea which terminal they belong to. Plus during trouble shooting a wire number should correspond to a page in the prints to reference. Might want to pass that along. The chief engineer/skipper will appreciate that.

    For a boat of this size and price, I would want to have the very nautical, traditionally, gorgeous Hylas interior that looks like a yacht and not like a Motel Six Benateau. I would also add a Bimini extension from the very desirable hard top to protect the single wheel helm station when you would want to directly control the boat in heavier weather. It is a very pretty boat, but for a cruising couple or family, I want a yacht that doesn't require an onboard engineer to maintain and keep it running when hydraulics and electronics fail, which they according to Murphy's Law they will and at the worst possible moment. And just so you know, I am a huge fan of Hylas, up to the 56. This one not so much.

  • @lisaoakley8032

    @lisaoakley8032

    I saw it at Annapolis last year, and I prefer the older Hylas interiors; much better ventilation as well. I thought the Passport 615 was more to my liking. The hard top is great, but the helm unprotected, and far from the cockpit, are a significant turn off.

  • @gregorydamario7977

    @gregorydamario7977

    Жыл бұрын

    @@lisaoakley8032 Yes Ma'am! Well said. I suspect Hylas, being a customizable yacht, that a traditional Hylas interior could be installed if one had the 57 built instead of buying one pre-made. Also, a couple of things I do not understand about sailboat manufacturers. I think it was Hunter that first came up with the scoop transom. A brilliant idea and copied by most modern boat designers and builders. A smart, practical choice. Amel came up with the superbly brilliant idea of putting the helm station forward in the cockpit, against the cabin bulkhead, thus providing a SAFE!!!, comfortable, useable, weather friendly place to sail the boat under all conditions. Why doesn't a builder of magnificent yachts like Hylas, do the same? It makes so much sense. Lastly, for now at least, why do boat builders think that the main recreational activity on a yacht is eating? Seating 10 people around a boat designed to comfortably carrying four or even six residents is a waste of space, not to mention duplicating that capacity in the main salon. The cockpit should be for sailing, fishing, lounging, sightseeing, maintenance and other outdoor activities.
