He needs to be hired by the Dolphins to be a linebackers coach. The man is a student of the game, and would give linebackers on the team such an edge.

I would love to see that because he's my favorite player ever, but he has said that he isn't interested in coaching. He is a really good family man.

just because he is a student of the game doesn't mean he will enjoy coaching or be a good coach. it isn't the same. most all football coaches i have interacted with are just power hungry bullies who like bossing people around. very little about coaching is 'being a student of the game'. go to a football practice for high school and watch it, it is like law students who graduate then realize that being a laywer isn't like the movies. Nick Saban wins in college because he recruits so well, give him Vanderbilt talent and how will he do?

i grew up a dolphin fan and all i can remember was this guy was literally involved in every play defensively. not the biggest lb but he made up for it with his hustle, relentlessness and IQ

Zach Thomas and MIAMI DOLPHINS are one in the same. This organization was built on greatness by Don Shula. Zach carried the torch every single week he was a player for us. Thank you, Zach Thomas. Congratulations on NFL and Dolphins immortality.

For 5 feet 11 inches tall, Zach was a total BEAST! Very intelligent and very strong! Best football awareness I have ever seen in a LB. On every down, where ever the ball was or where ever the ball was going to, Zach was there ready to make a play. Should have been put in the Hall of Fame years ago. Congrats Zach Attack!! PHINS UP!!!

Was looking for that hit on Jerome Betts, now that was iconic! I'm happy for Zach. That 96 Dolphins Defense was one of the best ever!

I have been a Dolphin fan all 52 years of my life, and if I had to pick one Dolphin player who epitomized the heart and soul of what it is to be a Dolphin... without a doubt it is Zach Thomas!

Zach was absolutely amazing. One of my all time favorite Dolphins!!!!! Still to this day go to the stadium and you will still see his Jersey worn by us fans. Was a blessing to have Zach wearing dolphins colors!!!! Hall of Fame more than well deserved

Anyone recall the play Zach made against the Steelers in Miami when Zach hit the A gap and hit Jerome Bettis backwards? bettis was one big running back that was hard to tackle to begin with and zach hit him so hard he fell backwards for like a 2 or 3 yard lost, what a great player Zach was, blessed to see him play all those years

Loved watching you play, Zach. So humble, it's unreal. And hearing him say our D-line now is similar to how it was back then? That gets me jazzed up!

I saw him play in Mexico City in 1997. Back then, they broadcasted about 4 or 5 Miami Dolphins games per season, so nobody knew him that well, but I remember myself thinking: Wow! That 54 plays really good! He went out of the game somewhen during the second quarter, due to an injury and was carted out. Fortunately, it was nothing serious. I also remember how I thought it was going to be quite a loss if he were hurt bad. We have not had an equal linebacker since ZT54. After Marino, he was my favorite player.

I wish Dan (as much as he is my most beloved QB of all time) would have retired and then have Jimmy step in to make a complete rebuild I think we could have won a superbowl. I have been a Dolphins fan since Shula's first press conference and so have seen all the Dolphin's greats. to my eyes Zach is right up there with John Offerdahl and AJ Duhe as the best Dolphins linebackers and the best one on one tacklers with Offerdahl and Jake Scott.

Zach Thomas Only defensive player to be around the ball as much as the QB and center. It seems like every freaking play he was in the mix. From sweeps to 50 yard bombs, Zach was there, making the takle or second on scene. Just so much hustle....
