Regardless of the final result you still showed the grit to not lose that game after a few of the top order went. Good to see Luke and Richard contribute. Ben seems unstoppable with that bat at the moment :)

Absolutely, we bat deep and really want to win so will always do all we can to maximise the points available to us. Bens in good form at the moment!

Absolutely! Any points are valuable points. Just a shame we couldn’t take the full allocation this time especially when Alleyn got abandoned! It’s always good having Wadders back he’s a great guy!

I was in London this weekend and I can say the weather was poor, so you did well to get any games on, on Saturday.

Accusations of cheating are wrong BUT it was an awful decision. The ump stands so far outside the line of the stumps that he shouldn’t be allowed to give any LBW decisions. I guess line doesn’t matter when you give LBW to a ball that would have gone about a foot over the stumps! 🙈

Kingstonian being pushed further and further out. That middle pitch was a beaut and now on that far hand side. That clubhouse use to be a hub. Did the Don's let you lads use it?

It looks like there’s the capacity and capability to have a couple of very very decent pitches there! We were allowed in the clubhouse for teas and stuff yes.

Remfry left you mid season, has he done that again to another club or was he not playing for anyone? Just wondering

He was young, wanted to try a higher level and made a move. He played at a couple of clubs but ultimately in the end didn’t enjoy his cricket so decided to come back as enjoying your day is almost more important than winning!

I know you said 'the umpire has the best view' and I would agree if he stood in line with the stumps.. awful stuff!

I can’t recall the comment now but if it was in regards to Aryans lbw then that was a shocker! That umpire seems to be getting a bit of a name around the league.

Absolutely agree. I always commend them because of the fact the game wouldn’t happen without them but on this occasion that was a shocker

Cricket teas seem to have been utterly killed off by Covid. It's amazing how many things disappeared during the pandemic and never came back.

There was teas just forgot to mention it. They were 400m away in the clubhouse I just wasn’t looking forward to the long trek there with already sore feet 😅.

I agree ref. the format, it's utterly stupid. There was never anything wrong with playing somewhere between 40 and 50 overs per side, keep it simple, perhaps with the team batting first being able to declare early and give themselves longer to bowl out the opposition if desired. This format makes no sense. It makes you wonder what goes through the minds of the people who sit around a table in a Surrey boozer somewhere thinking up this crap.

It is very frustrating! 2 games we have fallen short now due to the wildly imbalanced overs available. I don’t really fault our batting in either chase and we would have won both games if we had just a few more overs. The format is gone next year by all accounts and it will be simple win lose cricket. If you don’t score more runs the same amount of time to oppo had then you lose… simple!

Admit Andy that this format, whereby the team batting second has 10 overs less to chase a total is crazy and unfair. Good that Horley tried to chase the runs down, but then realised that a rash of heads might have lead to a defeat. Winning draw with this format is better than nothing

It really is a huge differential. We will always try and chase the runs. We have only ever had to block out for a draw once and we never want to do it again. It was just frustrating to not take 24 points especially when the guys at the top of the table had their game abandoned!!

i know its a shit format, thats why im happy in the sussex league only the prem and div 2 have draws for 50% of the season, but being honest if they took all their catches they may have bowled you lot out for much less

It really is… next year the Surrey league is being restructured exactly the same as the Sussex one. Done by the same bloke I believe… so we won’t have the timed stuff either apart from prem and division 1. Agreed, the old adage of catches win matches! We let them get 40 runs too many aswell which also doesn’t help
