Half Moon/Speedillac by Sonny Day and The Versatiles on Checker 886
I always liked this one. Sonny Day’s real name is David Fatalsky (or Fatawlsky) and he’s backed up Kripp Johnson’s Del-Vikings (Fee Bee) who were now called The Versatiles. You can really hear Kripp Johnson’s soaring tenor as “Half Moon” is closing. Transferred from my original 45 rpm.

Great record (both sides)...this should have charted. Thank you for uploading and sharing!!
Good Double Sided Disc. Remured To Be The Dell Vikings Singing Backup.

It is Kripp Johnson's Dell Vikings, you can clearly hear him on "Half Moon"

Is it obscure Pete?

Not particularly, I think it's fairly common. I guess you could say that my collection is more pre 1960 than post 1960. While I have many great 1960's vocal group records, majority are pre 1960. @@frankchille1743
