My dad had this along with the original release. I still have both CDs somewhere. Was always kinda neat having this demo disc and seeing a couple small features that didn't make it into the official game.

Is this like a beta version of the game? Some stuff look alpha and others to the retail version we first got

It was a Demo version included with some graphics cards. There are a lot of differences, as you noticed.
