Barney Calhoun, also known as GLaDOS's "new best friend" Gordon Freeman, is the protagonist of the Half-Life 2: Blue Shift expansion pack. He is a security guard at Black Mesa Research Facility who becomes trapped in a teleportation chamber during the resonance cascade incident, causing his consciousness to become separated from his body. He is later captured by Combine forces and forced to undergo psychological conditioning, leading to his transformation into a loyal and brainwashed Combine soldier.
