It's one of my favorite codgers along with Prince Albert, its certainly unique, as for me who loves baking spices this is a must have!. I buy the 7 ounce cans at a time if thats any indication!

My dad loved Half & Half. He would smoke other brands and a few cigars like Swisher Sweets and White Owl , but he always had Half & Half on hand.

I watched my dad smoke Half-n-Half for 40 years in his falcon. I have it in my cellar, but I don't enjoy it as much as Captain Black.

Love the Codger blend series. This was my first pipe tobacco to try and I have always liked it. I do prefer it mixed with Edward G. Robinson or "Shiloh" as Shelby Foote called it. And yes, I have to smoke it in a Falcon pipe. Thanks again for the video !!

I got some of this (along with a pile of other codger blends) to try about a year or so ago. It's not my favorite but it did kind of grow on me. At first I absolutely did not like it, but there's something there that I can't put my finger on that reminds me of something. I've never figured out what it is, but it makes me think of my grandparents' house when I was a kid. They never smoked so it's not the tobacco itself, I've never been able to pinpoint it. But that nostalgic feeling keeps bringing me back to it, and over the past year I've come to enjoy it.

Agreed my wife found a pouch from 2007 along with several other codger blends at a garage sale in a large Ziploc bag. I experimented with rehydrating them and smoking them and of all the codger blends half-and-half had the Burly footprint and room note with Virginia sweetness cardamom and Anise I keep coming back to it

I found a big tin of half and half at a piggly wiggly, which I got at a steep discount I didn't ask for because the tin had apparently been sitting there for years. A small gas station/deli I sometimes visit for work also sells pouches of half and half. Because I don't always have a convenient place to buy it. When I smoke half and half I usually put a bed of wildhorse or 4 aces in the bottom 3rd or half of the bowl to stretch out my supply. Doesn't hurt the flavor much.

I really enjoy these codger blend reviews! I picked up some half and half recently but haven't tried it yet. Really like the captain black original though.

My best experience with half and half was the first bowl from a freshly opened pouch. It was chocolaty, sweet, and smooth with burley undertones. Pure heaven. Every bowl after that tasted increasingly like burning pencil shavings.

I had Half and half , captain black , and two other codger blends that I’m had pressed into,a cake a year ago and smoked some the other day and @ow , it was fantastic! Very smooth

Thanks for doing these codger blend videos! Have you tried Admiral’s Choice Black & Gold? That’s one of my favorites and a regular go-to of mine.

Tried a few times and….didn’t care for it. So far, my favorite codger blend is Captain Black Premium, Amphora Kentucky, Burley, and Carter Hall. Still have others to try though. I see the library is getting larger with time! Take care and thanks!

"Unique," a very polite way of describing something I would call utter and complete rubbish!!! Anything inspired by a cigarette blend like Lucky Strikes has no appeal to me. Thanks for reviewing it, however. Love your videos.

I like just about anything. I sometimes mix a few of these together and have a smoke in the morning and again after work.

good review but i love half and Half, the tobacco in the 7oz tub tastes different from the pouch. I was shocked at the difference. i smoke it straight but like another commenter i mix with Edward G Robinson to make Shiloh

H&H is unique, yes. Not for everyone, though. Like you I was a little put-off when I first tried It but the blend kind of grew on me. It is one of my favorite codger blends. The cardamon and coriander are the key elements that makes it so different. This tobacco’s character does get more flavorful with age and the Burley does shine much better IMO

Hey Wilson nice review I like half n.half it's a codger blend and the anise flavor wasn't always there they use to have a tonklin bean like a vanilla taste I have some vintage half n half from the 50s and it taste Nothing like the new stuff that we have to day it's so good I smoke it sparingly the new stuff is good with the Anise but it's not the same as with the Tonklin Bean that they use to Uses 😃👋🔥💨☕

I would still consider myself a pipe newb and this is one of the first blends I actually pin pointed an actual flavor. When I smelled the tobacco in the pouch, I couldn't for the life of me connect the smell to anything I'd smelled before. As luck has it, it was around thanksgiving and a day or two after smelling the tobacco, I happened to be eating some cranberry sauce (from the can). It is exactly the same taste/smell as the half and half tobacco has! Please try that comparison and let me know what you think! :)

I just bought a 1.5 oz pouch and after just one bowl so far, I can say that I really like it. I was trying to pinpoint the aroma/taste myself. I'll keep your comment in mind on the next bowl.

Nice that you took some time to try this legendary blend. My fav at the moment. Next up...Velvet? ;)

I enjoyed it from the few bowls I remember. I have a new bag I have yet to try. I’m interested what your thoughts are on mixture no. 79. I’m definitely not a black licorice guy but I find it very flavorful.

I actually enjoy Prince Albert, but Half and Half was a nightmarish smoke for me. It actually ruined a corncob (thankfully just a corncob), because it was all I could taste.

Velvet is the best. Followed by Carter hall. Just my opinion. I’ll maybe smoke half and half one a year. Thank u for the video. *edit I also hope you’re feeling ok from Covid. If you’re craving half and half I’d say you’re probobly on the mend. 😊

I think half and half is good if you like codger blends. But if you mix it with SWR 50/50, it is excellent (Palidin Piper calls this Codger Corner). If you have any SWR, give it a try 😊

I don't remember ever using half and half. If I may I have a question for you. I have a pipe that I can't seem to fit with any blend. Do experience this? I'll keep trying but so far I don't enjoy the tobaccos I use in this one pipe. Have you had this experience?

I agree totally! That is one of 2 blends that I have thrown in the garbage after my first try. The other I threw away was Ennerdale...

I like aromatics, but that licorice/anise kick is nas-TAY.

My grandfather smoked this for most of his life, and I grew up with that image in my memory. I bought a pouch of it last year just for the heck of it, and I couldn't stand it at all. Too many toppings and an odd taste killed it for me.

Definitely unique. I tried this for the first time a few months ago and did not like at all.

Not a fan of it either. Only codger blend I really enjoy though is velvet.

I get more burley taste out of Half and Half than CB. Half and Half is cigarette tobacco-like to me with a very tart blackberry topping.

I didnt like it myself, also tongue bite for me for some reason. Velvet is much better in my opinion.

It is an ok blend and is cheap. I tried it. I don;t have any more and it is not one I would buy again.

Half and half is too over flavored. I like the flavor as nostalgic but have to mix it with Granger to knock it down to enjoy it. Any lite topped burley would suffice.

Well, your dislike peaked my interest. Kinda like a person telling you to try something that is awful and tells you to try it. Think I will like it. Lol sold me on it!
