@eliasujashvili7113 Yeah true, but it's the oldest thing I got LoL. The story behind it was that one of my parents friend was going to throw it out. They had bought a new bench top drill press and at the time I was around 8 to 10 years old and I said I'll take it. I cleaned it all up and have used it ever since. The only reason I have it is because it still working hard and drilling holes I'm not an antique collector.
I'm trying to drill through a hex drill bit adapter with a carbide bit and I'm not sure what speed to use. I have cutting oil. Do you know? Nobody I've asked can tell me

As you probably know it's all about managing the heat so the bit is not destroyed. Looking up on the drill chart to drill through hardened steel such as an average impact socket which has a hardness factor of 45 HRC. Using a 1 inch carbide drill bit you would run it at 76 to 115 RPM any bit smaller just divide by the bit size. For example an 1/8" bit would be 76/0.125 = 608 RPM.

@@LetsDoThis321 lowest speed on my press is 740rpm, so that will have to do
King
What do yall think? Was the speed too high?

The video is running at 2x speed. The belt on the pulley is set to its slowest setting 870 rpm.

@LetsDoThis321 Oh ok. I drill metal all day at work. Specifically aluminum and galvanized steel. I run the drill press at 280 and my hand drill a little faster than that. I really have no idea the proper speed, I just watch my chips
That’s cute try using a 1942 craps man
