    This song was the first Jacob Collier masterpiece I heard, randomly sent to me by spotify based on my library. For about a year I did not click to see the rest of the album or any other tracks by you. Then, for some reason, I decided to check out the rest of the album (I rarely do this). By the end of the album I was 100% convinced it was a 20 piece band (at least) with a master choreographer. I figured it was lifelong musicians in their 40s and this was their epic masterpiece that they had built up to after a lifetime of producing music with professional sound engineers like no one else had access to. To later find out it's ONE fucking human in his God damn room recording this by HIMSELF and the whole album was done in three months....to say this blown my mind is like calling mount Everest an ant hill. Who are you, sir. You have raised the bar by so much.......maybe too much? Who raises bars by that much. Anyway, I'm now a lifelong fan and so excited to have found you. All the best and continue to let your truly unique light shine. No one comes close.

    People are attempting to compare Jacob to others and it's pointless. This is "Jacob Collier music". He's a true original and he'll be an influence on many others for years to come.

  • @jamiebertram9744

    @jamiebertram9744

    Nostril Jacker yeah, his writing is inspired and creative - but every great artist is still influenced by ones that came before. Anything we create is just a synthesis of what we have experienced before. A true innovator is just someone who has absorbed more influence, and who has the experience and maturity in their craft to apply them in new ways. I agree he is and will likely be a great influence to many to come, but I do not agree it is pointless to consider who and what influenced him! To understand art, you really need to consider the history and the culture it was inspired by.

  • @williamross6477

    I think the point is that there isn't any genre/style you can put him in. He is pretty much a fusion of all styles, from funk to samba. It's not that he didn't have any influences, just that you can't really say "oh, Yeah, he sounds kinda like this guy!"

    I am in high school. I was planning to take a bunch of high up science classes because I can and it's impressive and whatever. @@botsunny013 I also grew up in a musical family. My dad is a musician and lawyer. So you best believe he pushed us to learn as many instruments as possible, he also introduced as to so many other genres apart from pop that most people my age were listening to growing up. I love music. But me and my siblings also love STEM subjects too. And I constantly have a battle with myself on what I want to do. But I made the difficult decision not to take music at GCSE. I still take theory classes, bass guitar and double bass. But I've quit singing and other things. I my own father didn't take music at school, he just played what he liked, and didn't even start on theory till later life. I've been told I would easily get a 9 in my GCSE music, but I already know the stuff and am at the level of someone who's finished their GCSEs, so I'm not going to take it. Because if I did, it would only be for the grade and not the music I love.

    Something doesn't add up....for his age seeing all the instruments he plays and knowing the time it typically takes to master them is dumbfounding. He show's a master's skill on every instrument he plays and that's just the start. His arrangements hurt my brain and massage it all at the same time. I think he was given an assignment from higher level beings to come down to earth and show us a hope for the future through music. Well it's working I impressed beyond words. Jacob runs circles around master musicians who've been playing all their lives! On top of all of that he's a really nice guy who's humble. I'm just cotton mouth at this point...what else can say except thank you to Jacob, his mom and dad and the god who created him. A cosmic talent beyond the earthly realm.

    I saw the orchestrated version Jacob did with M. I. T, his genius is so inspiring and he's just an infectious, delicious piece of bubblegum gumdrop candy dipped in talent, his music makes me so happy🤓👏👏❤️ I love this track as much as the rest... Great job Jacob.

    and honestly, if I didn't know any better I'd almost say this was a feel-good song straight out of the 80's-early 00's. I feel like other artists/music big shots forgot how to write like this :-\
