Hairspray is flammable. So wouldn’t that be a fire hazard and also against a city code violation? It becomes flammable?

What a great, daring imagination you have! If you had used the various paints, crackle solutions, misting bottle and special brush, I bet making that new piece of wood look old would have cost $50 minimum. Thank so much for this money saving technique. ❤️👏😘

Omg this is going to be the perfect background for our marriage license! Wow! 21 years ago when we got married, I made copies of our marriage license and took one of them and aged it. And it came out just beautiful but I never did anything with it. Lol And in my husband’s top drawer it sits. And you just gave me the best idea for it! Thank You! I’ve literally been waiting 21 years for this!!! Lol

I followed the instructions exactly, black base coat let dry, accent coats let dry, hairspray let dry, acrylic house paint top coat, let dry - no cracks at all.... guess I will have to try again with craft store paint ONLY. Not giving up, but not there yet. Thanks for the info.

Paint over the hairspray wet. It cracks the paint from while drying. If it cured, it with just act like an adhesion promoter.

The one thing I wish I could learn how to do, and I have tried, is to be able to write in that calligraphic style. My hand writing, in spite all the efforts of my mama (g.b.h) to teach and make me practice penmanship as a kid, has always been like a really good surgeon, unreadable 😂

Looks cool, and to make the wood look old I use a piece of chain to whip it with and the Cain will but small dents and it looks cool, bicycle lock would work also, another thing is to place your wood on the driveway with some bolts or anything under it and stand on it which will make some dents or stuffs in it ✌️
