I typically do this kind of hairstyle on Day 2 of my hair being curly :) I only showed it from beginning to end so there wasn't any confusion, but yes, Day 2 is my day for this usually. Which REALLY makes it a 3 minute hair-do! ;)

Hi! Yes, it is naturally wavy and doing that does help to make it much more curly. There were a few ladies further down the comments who have hair like yours that tried this technique and it did make their hair more wavy, so it's worth a try! I don't think it'd be as curly, but I believe it would add great volume to your hair. :) Thanks for asking!

Thanks for sharing this! I've always been doing this same hairstyle by putting it in a clip and trying to hide the clip, and if it didn't look right, i'd give up. I just now tried this, and it worked perfectly. I think I'll be doing it this way from now on.

Love your videos and approach! I kept trying this hairstyle and I kept over pinning. (I just couldn't help myself:). But I figured out an even easier way to do this hairstyle (for me). After making a pony tail, smoosh all the hair against the back of the head, just the same as you did, then use a round claw clip to clip it all over the pony tail. Then adjust the style by pulling out pieces to make it bigger and cover the clip...you can make it as messy looking as you want to and it has the same great result as your style. You can pull out the pieces of hair partially or completely to achieve the shape you want. I wouldn't have thought of this without your great ideas and fantastic instructions.

interesting way to take curly hair. even without the updo part I love the drying technique you use combined with gel. I always end up straightening my hair because I have no idea how to manage it. I will definitely be tting this. ty.
