How much does a hair transplant cost?
When considering permanent hair restoration a major question for most people will be how much a hair transplant will cost?
Like many people, actor presenter Paul Gerrard says the cost of a hair transplant is an important consideration.
But while cost, which, depending on the size of the procedure, can vary between $5,000 and $20,000 in Australia, is important, Paul is mindful of other critical considerations.
Having done extensive research on hair restoration solutions, Paul is acutely aware of the importance of a surgeon’s experience in the field of hair transplantation, surgical skill and the training of the surgical support team.
Obtaining a natural looking hair transplant whereby the donor hair is transplanted with the same angle, direction and curl his natural hair grows is a priority.
During this consultation with Dr Jennifer Martinick and Dr Sara Kotai, Paul says his upmost concern is that he gains a natural looking and healthy head of transplanted hair.
Dr Martinick advises that while having a hair transplant procedure will involve a day out of his life, his transplanted hair, which will grow as his own hair does, will be permanent.
While no-one can spot a good hair transplant, the poor-obvious ones can be easily detected, she warns.
When planning Paul’s hair transplant procedure, Dr Martinick and Dr Kotai ensure provision is made for future hair loss.
With hair transplant patients having 6,000 precious follicular unit grafts (FUGs) available for transplant, the maximum amount that can be transplanted prudently in a single procedure is 4,500 FUGs.
Paul’s transplant procedure involved having 4000 follicular unit grafts, leaving 2000 donor grafts available, if he decides to have an additional procedure in the future.
