Hair loss can be a distressing experience, prompting many to seek effective solutions such as Finasteride-a popular choice in hair loss treatment for men. However, there's a crucial aspect to consider when using this medication: the potential development of Post-Finasteride Syndrome (PFS) upon abrupt discontinuation.
Finasteride, known for its ability to slow hair loss and even promote regrowth, has been a game-changer for many. Yet, the decision to cease its use must be carefully deliberated. Going "cold turkey" without a gradual tapering-off approach can lead to a host of problems.
Post-Finasteride Syndrome is a condition where individuals experience persistent and often severe side effects after stopping Finasteride. These can include sexual dysfunction, mood swings, and various hormonal imbalances. The abrupt cessation of the medication can trigger a hormonal rollercoaster, akin to opening Pandora's Box.
To mitigate this risk, it's imperative to seek professional advice and consider a gradual discontinuation plan. This measured approach minimizes the potential for the resurgence of symptoms and the development of PFS, ultimately safeguarding your hair and overall well-being. So, when it comes to Finasteride, think twice before going cold turkey-it's a decision that could have lasting consequences.

administration of finasteride decreases social interaction and results in cognitive deficits, potentially through a cholinergic mechanism. Further studies are required to understand the exact link between the cognitive effects and the cholinergic system.Side effects may be irreversible and include persistent erectile dysfunction, depression, suicidal tendencies, loss of libido, anxiety, and other neurological issues (ie. memory loss, altered mental status). The dtufies dont lie snd rheyre continuing woth 186 brain DNA genes have been altered. All for hair ! I took finasteride before these studies were shown or id have never taken iy. Hopefully some young guys who are considering taking finasteride see this and think 1,000,000 about it and then dknt go for it. Best to everyone

Keep taking the drug if you want to keep your hair. And don't panic in the beginning, everyone experiences side effects in the 1st months. Keep taking the drug for at least 6 weeks before scaring yourself to discontinue.

Does the same apply to dutasteride? With the drug having such a long active half-life i would think cold turkey wouldn't make a difference since going back to baseline is a slow process. I took what i think may have been a a very large single dose and i didn't like the sides as compared to fin at all so i didn't take anymore of the drug. It's been 2 months since i stopped and i still have sides. I'm hoping this is just simply because the dose i took was very big and it may take longer than expected to go back to normal.

@@hairtransplantinindia yeah. I'm trying not to worry too much about it tho since i'm sure i'll be fine. I've been on finasteride on and off for a while with 0 issues. Sometimes cold turkey. I always recovered extremely fast tho this is just me. Definitely best to just have people stick to fin and cut back on dose and frequency to avoid sides, exorcise and stay healthy to produce natural to make up for the lost dht etc. I tried dutasteride topically semi-convinced only a small amount would actually penetrate the skin and hair papilla. But evidently it was a wrong assumption. The drug goes systemic and it was in a 0.3% concentration in a glycol solution which made the drug even more likely to penetrate. So most likely, i'll just have to wait as i'm sure my DHT is still largely suppressed. The studies iv'e seen seem to indicate there's a minimum of a 2-3 month wait for dht to return to baseline in doses over 0.5. I'll leave an update in about another month or 2.

Hai sir i didn't exposed my head to direct sunlight after hair transplant. in my room there is a window covered by curtains i sleep near to the winodow. when i wake up i can feel the sunlight outside the winodow. Will sunlight covered by winodow affects results. I was sleeping under this everyday i wakeup between 9 am - 10 am not longer than that. Secondly after the 6 th day of hair transplant i went to buy medicine at that time there was sunlight outside which is a bit strong. I can't park my car in front of medical shop so i Parked some distance away from the medical shop and i need to walk from there to medical shop. I weared a surgical cap and used an umbrella.
