What a band. From the album, A Nod is as Good as a Wink to a Blind Horse.
This is just good "Rock & Roll"! Ah, the swagger, is why this kicks ass! The very best era of Rod Stewart!
I just remember being about 12 years old living in a little funky town of about 12,000 people and one day I came home and heard this on the radio. I immediately got the radio station and asked him to play it again and they did! This record alone more than likely have most of the influence of my young self to go look for more rock and roll. I also went out and got rides newest album at that time every picture tells the story. It had Maggie May and reason to believe and I know I'm losing you on it and I was hooked for life! Peace!
Lead singer Rod Stewart who went on to a great solo career, and lead guitarist Ronnie Wood who later went on to The Rolling Stones and is still there. Oh, and drummer Kenny Jones who succeeded Keith Moon in The Who.

ARE THERE PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW THIS ALREADY? BWHAHAHHA
The Faces served as Rod Stewart's backing band for several of his songs, as well. The best one: I'M LOSING YOU. So raw. So rockin'. So what you waiting for?
The Small Faces were another great English band from the 60's. They had some great hits "Itchycoo Park", "Lazy Sunday", "All Or Nothing", "Whatcha Gonna Do About It" etc. In 1969 after lead singer/guitarist Steve Marriott left the group to form Humble Pie" & the remaining members of Small Faces were joined by Ronnie Wood (guitar) & Rod Stewart (lead vocals), both from the Jeff Beck Group & the new line-up was renamed "Faces".

Wasn't Carmine Appice on drums? He was an influence on Led Zepplin's John Bonham:) Or was it Kenny Jones? Who replaced Kieth Moon.

@allenlocke1935 - I think Bonzo ordered Carmine's drum kit when Zep first got together, which is how he got into Ludwig. I think Appice puts himself up on some grand pedestal when recounting stories of the 60s and 70s. Great drummer but such an inflated ego.
Saw them in '71. Met a very buzzed Ronnie & Rod after the show. Port Chester NY.
This took me back to being 17 at the basement house parties. This record was always blasting!
Aaahh! Your entire line up tonight, is my best times jams😇🙏🏼🙌🏻👐🏼💘. All this music runs the frowns away, can't be blue when you listen to these musicians!!
70’s Classic Rock. Some of Ron Woods’ best work before joining The Stones. This is also where Rod Stewart landed after his time with The Jeff Beck Group, (Jeff said he would never find another singer like Rod. He was so right he stopped looking) and before Rod’s long solo career.
So much talent in One Band. Rock and roll 🎸🎵🏁
Love this band so much.
This one is a little party of sounds we all invited to. Fire 🔥
"Hey, what's your name again?" 😂
Love this freakin song, heard it a million times and plan on hearing another million times. Yo Biz, The Faces are the group that I told you that the Black Crowes were the 90s version of. I think you could switch songs with these 2 bands and they would basically sound almost the same ( except for Rod having just a little more rasp than Chris). I just wished The Faces would have lasted a little longer, but they just had too much talent for 1 band. Anyway, great song and great reaction

Good call!
Biz: I laughed so hard at your lyrical recap, and your artistic descriptive phrases ("macaroni noises?"). Great sawing swagger rock song.
Miss Judy's Farm, Ooh La La and their cover of I'm Losing You should be on your must listen list.
This song takes me back to the days of my youth. I just call it rock n roll! They are Brits. The Small Fsces included Steve Marriott on vocals. He left to join Humble Pie and Rod Stewart replaced him, along with Ronnie Wood who joined. That's when they became The Faces. Rock on!
Always thought this was one of the most iconic intros in Rock and Roll. Had it as my ringtone for a while! Great tune and Rod does a awesome job on the vocals. Brings back memories of high school.
This was one of the really great rock and roll songs ever. Supposedly written by the band over a case or so of wine.
There are some great memories with this one Biz Thanks. You rock
Raucous ruckus. I like it.
Another great song from 1971
Damn! Another great reaction! At 60, I'm growing into my gravel voice, still miss my smooth. Peace brother
CLASSIC ROCK AN ROLL
GREAT GREAT rockin tune on fire ! Make sure this song is not on your playlist 1st date tho, if you want a second, third ...
That was 🔥🔥🔥
Great song slyrically and musically. My favorite Rod jam.
Ronnie Lane kills it on bass here! All of the bass lines he came up with were always fire.
user.....lol Steve, here. That's Ronnie Wood { very close to Stewart} left for the Stones in 74. You can check out an unpluggwd duet with them rogether - nice collection to pick from
Anything with Rod Stewart is fire. Including on the 1968 album The Jeff Beck Group, “Truth”, with Rod singing “Shapes of Things” and, “ Let Me Love You, Baby”.
Great reaction. More songs of my youth, I have the vinyl, "A Nod is as Good as a Wink to a Blind Horse", that this song is on. Love that you pay attention to the lyrics and you feel the music. Other songs from Faces Memphis, Debris, Your so Rude, and That's All You Need.
“Macaroni noises”… probably one of the most accurate descriptors I ever heard….love it…I’m stealing that…
the faces were such a great band
I dig your reactions!
Whimsical, 70's dance/ drink party.
Now this is some of that real rock and roll boogie woogie get down to your soul!
hey, brother, Rod Stewart with Small Faces, Faces and solo later - till about '85ish...incredible catalog, to be sure. Throw a dart at "Every Picture tells a Story" and TRY npt to hit a hit!
Check out I'm Losing You for some more excellent young Rod Stewart vocals. Killer song.
Makes you want to tap your toes lol. Edit: great react. The correct react in my opinion. Lol.
Yes a southern band (SOUTH LONDON)
What a classic
fiiiiire!!

The Faces only put out 4 albums before Rod took leave of his senses and embarked on a financially rewarding - but artistically underwhelming - solo career (actually, the solo albums Rod put out while he was still in The Faces are great: the band play on all of them! It's the ones he put out post Faces that kinda suck). But back to The Faces. Simply one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time. Just a few more of their songs that you'll enjoy, Biz: "Ooh La La", "Too Rude", "Miss Judy's Farm", "Borstol Boys", "Silicone Grown", "Debris", "Cindy Incidentally", "Three Button Hand Me Down" and their brilliant live cover of McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed".
Amazing band.❤
the entire album...FIRE
Macaroni noises again. 😂😂😂
Such a great 70s band.
You gotta love raw dirty rock music
Great reaction, Biz. You earlier described Canned Heat’s ‘On the Road Again’, and now this song as Rockabilly, which neither of them are. Maybe a reaction to some actual rockabilly might help define the genre for you. Brian Setzer’s ‘Stray Cat Strut’ would be a good place to start. Neil Young with the Shocking Pinks made one rockabilly album, and you’ve been diggin’ Neil! Elvis Presley’s ex-girlfriend, Wanda Jackson, is THE rockabilly queen - listen to ‘Let’s Have A Party’.

When I think of rockabilly, I think Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard, Stray Cats too....
Great song, Rocking rod Stewart is from England
One of the all time classic bands, and Ronnie Wood (now of The Rolling Stones) on guitar - come on, absolute 🔥
Rod and Ronnie were great together
They were from England. Small Faces reformed into Faces after singer/guitarist Steve Marriot left to form Humble Pie with Peter Frampton, who had been the singer/guitarist for The Herd. The remaining Small Faces (Ian McLagan, Kenney Jones, and Ronnie Lane) recruited singer Rod Stewart from The Jeff Beck Group, and guitarist Ronnie Wood, also from Jeff Beck Group. Ronnie Wood would later would join The Rolling Stones after the first breakup of Faces.
Guitar rock, is a strong mix of blues, mixed with Chuck Berry's 1, 4, 5, 12 bar blues formula. Almost all of modern music shares this overall formula.
❤️🔥❤️🔥
Faces, and Traffic and similar groups never got the headlines but that's why we read beyond the headlines.
This and LOSING YOU are 2 of Rod and Ronnie Woods best songs (Ronnie went on the be the lead guitarist for the Rolling Stones about 2 years after this song and still there today)

I love the adlib line "Get yourself home" it almost sounds like he is saying "Get your cell phone".
"Every Picture Tells a Story" from the same album...
Biz, you must check out the Faces' album "First Step." Nobody ever reacts to that.
Loved Rod Stewart with Faces! Great song, brings back so many good memories!
, yeah, I almost forgot - You played RnR Hoochie Koo by another forgotten phenom on guitar, Rick Derringer, wrote it {ya know - coochie..lol}. That's it's meaning...hehe Check out "Frankenstein" also co-written with Edgar Winter. Edgar and brother, Johnny, are gifted and long respected talents. Rooted deeply in Blues/rock, the blending of the backbeat of Rock and 4/4 of blues, led them to experiment - everywhere, with their abilities, Both born Albino { lack of meletonin - skin pigment producing cells } - sorry.....Derringer plays guitar {duh} in the epic broadcast, from '74 with Edgar. Drummer is dope, Edgar should gonna blow ya mind with his talents.....yup
Rod Stewart and Faces are just going all out on this one. Rod wrote it, "Woo! Get It - In the mornin', don't say you love me, 'cause I'll only kick you out of the door" Damn Rod, brother, that's cold. I guess it was time for her to go. Sex/Drugs/And Rock & Roll.
Before "bad boy" Rod Stewart was with Faces, he was with the Jeff Beck Group. Check out "I Ain't Superstitious".
That's Rod Stewart singing
Faces were brilliant,in the Good old days when Rod made decent music!
Faces became solo Rod Stewart....and other members being absorbed by other established bands
This is definitely Southern Rock but they are not a Southern Band, Rod Stewart himself is from Scotland. Great reaction
bass & pianny.
My favorites of Rod Stewart. Didn't care much for his solo career. It went pop. But FACES was great IMO
Any thing with Rod is worth diving into try hot legs
I knew you would get a kick out of the lyrics, Biz.
C HOF!!!!
England
Rod Stewart is the lead singer here.
Not southern rock and definitely not Rockabilly (best example is Rockpile, which goes back to a simpler format like late 50’s style). It is just great rock and roll.
Rod Stewart - I’m Losing You You’ll not hear a better cover of this Temptations classic.
What a great band when rod rocked not that Disco Crap.
faces didnt do much once rod left

When Rod started to get too big for his britches, and the band started to be booked as "Rod Stewart and the Faces", Ronnie Lane- bass player, songwriter and founding member quit the band. They did replace him, but it wasn't the same. Even Rod said that when Ronnie left, the heart went out of the band. Rod, of course went solo, Kenney replaced the late Keith Moon in Who, Ron Wood joined the Stones, Mac played with many groups as a journeyman keyboard player and Ronnie started his own band, Slim Chance. So that was the end of the Faces.
Fire! But still not rockabilly. Rockabilly is more like Gene Vincent "Be-Bop-A-Lula", Eddie Cochran "Summertime Blues", Jerry Lee Lewis "Great Balls Of Fire", and Gene Summers "School of Rock 'N Roll" for starters.
Dude, you gotta stop calling things rockabilly that aren't in any way rockabilly! That minor gripe aside, enjoyed this a lot 👍🏽
Theyre british
Southern band? Not even South London, mate. Proper Cockney band.
No, no, no !! FACES are neither Southern or Rockabilly. This is a British band made up of 5 very talented musicians formed from 2 fantastic bands of the mid 60's. SMALL FACES was one of the top 4 bands (along with Beatles/Stones/Who) in Europe between 1966-69 producing top 10 hits one after another and tearing up the countryside playing very hot live R&B. In 1969 amazing frontman/guitarist/ and stunning vocalist Steve Marriott got sick of being considered a "teen Idol" and quit to form a heavier rock band HUMBLE PIE. Thus the remaining SF's Ronnie Lane (bass), Kenney Jones (drums) and Ian McLagan (keys) were left with some very large size 5 shoes to fill.Steve's friend Ronnie Wood was dissatisfied playing with the moody Jeff Back, so Steve suggested Wood go see Ronnie Lane and they gladly took him in, but the still need a vocalist. Woody's friend Rod Stewart , also from Jeff Beck Group was fed up with Jeff too, so reluctantly, the took him on as their lead vocalist. Ronnie and Mac were afraid Rod would go off on his own and leave them stranded, which is what he did do in the end. Thus, the dropped the Small and became the Faces. However, before then they were HOT! Please play more Faces "Three Button Hand Me Down" and "Miss Judy's Farm" are a couple of fun ones. Also, PLEASE come back and play more SMALL FACES & HUMBLE PIE. All three bands are real rocking bands. I think You would like the early Small Faces songs when Marriott channels James Brown, Otis Redding, etc. "Whatcha Gonna Do About It", "You Need Lovin", "Come On Children", "All or Nothing", or some of their later more mature works - too many to list. I also think you would like anything off Humble Pies 2 live albums as you seem to like the heavier rocking and Steve interactions with the audience.
Rod Stewart should of stayed with Peter green
