    Thanks for the video. Looking at the handle bar model. First one in your links. Do they require a lot of adjusting while on the road? Read where other mirrors require tweaking while riding. Also, do they fold in for transporting? Thanks!

  • @EbikeEscape

    @EbikeEscape

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Steve, they do not require a lot of adjusting in my experience unless you are sharing your ebike with others. You'll want to make sure the attachment to the handlebar is plenty tight and then you can also tighten where the mirror attaches to the extension bar. This will determine how easy it is to move the mirror. You want it tight enough that it isn't going to move when going over rough terrain but you still want to be able to make slight adjustments if need be. The mirror does fold in for transporting.

    I found that last hafny in my parts bin. I was going to use it on my LMT’d but it got stolen. I’ve got a roadster V2 now and want to use this, but the bar diameter is much too small for the clamp.

    @@EbikeEscape I was trying to put in on with whatever I had laying around the house of of laziness. I was able to use one of the little plastic reducers along with a thin rubber piece and it seems to be mounted solidly since the bike fell over after I installed it and it didn’t move. Ironically, my Gub phone mount did get knocked loose so I’ve shored it up with another rubber strip. Eventually I may just get a new bar as the roadster’s stock bar is not only a really small diameter, it’s also very short in length. That causes the mirror to give me a fairly limited view and is also starting to make my bars look a bit cluttered Anyways, thanks for the video. The mirror is working pretty well for me now

    I couldn't make out if any of those were wide angle lenses. I am mystified that wide angle isn't the norm like they are on cars. (objects in mirror are closer than they appear) I ended up buying a wide angle stick on mirror and stuck it on my helmet mounted mirror. Huge improvement.

    Which is better ... flat or convex? Do the flat mirrors have to be bigger because they don't have a wide angle view? I would think the wide angle is misleading about how close objects are to you.

    Problem with the Hafny handlebar mounted mirror is it doesn’t extend far enough, they should add an option to extend out the mirror.

    Good point, but they also have grip mounted mirrors (not bar end) that move the mirror closer to the outside. Ccheck out my most recent video on Core-5 accessories if you're curious. But yes, it would be cool if there was an option to extend if desired.

    @@EbikeEscape Actually I just checked and looks like Hanfy has another model that's 6.5" as opposed to the one in the video (I have the exact same model). The thing with the end handlebar mirrors is that it's at the outer extremities which tend to be the first point of contact so risks being damaged. I'll check out your vid though thanks! Update: I realized the end handlebar versions are designed to fold in on impact so went with this.

    Mount the mirror below the bar. It'll be below the grip and just a few inches out. A world of difference, and looks cool as well.

    The Hafny says it fits handlebars 21-26. My new Vado SL is 18 mm where it would be mounted. Would it still works OK with rubber shims? Also is the style you like because of function or style?

  • @EbikeEscape

    @EbikeEscape

    3 жыл бұрын

    Are you certain that is the correct diameter? We have Hafny mirrors on a handful of bikes now and it's hard to imagine them not working. Normally they go on the thinnest part of the handlebar. I like the handlebar ones because they look better and you don't have to look to the side as much to see what's in the mirror. Plus no added width to the handlebars. Downsides of the handlebar-mounted ones are that they take up cockpit space. Also, your arms get in the way a bit showing up in the mirror. Personal preference really.

    I wonder if, when you move the display to make room for the hafny handlebar mirror, the wire leading in to the display is stressed, since the length of the wire was fit for the original placement of the display. It seems like that wire should be going straight in to the display from directly below it rather than at an angle. I'm wondering because I just ordered a Hafny mirror for my Ride 1up 700 series and I wouldn't want to install it and have it lead to a shorter life span for the display.

  • @EbikeEscape

    @@EbikeEscape Yes, I haven't received it yet and I will let you know how it works out. I have a mirror coming out of the handlebar tube and it is useful but I would like one higher up and closer to my line of vision. Thanks for your reply. I bought my bike, a Ride 1up 700 series, based on the video in which you interviewed Kevin, the owner of the company. I like the bike a lot and it meets my expectations and needs. I would have preferred a grip throttlle and I am adjusting to the thumb throttle. Also, the throttle delivers full power no matter how much it is employed and a graduated acceleration is preferred. Also I noticed, while charging the battery and turning the display on, it indicated a 100% charge but the charger was still showing red. It took over an hour for the green light to come on so I wonder about the accuracy of the percentages of the charge level on the display. I think I could get between 40 and 50 miles per charge based on the 130 miles of riding done so far. That would be mostly at levels 1 and 2 PA on flat surfaces using the thumb throttle from stops and for some help with the hills. For long steep hills I might scroll up to level 4 or 5. I was only going to respond to the mirror reply but here I am rambling on. Thanks for all of your videos! They are very informative and useful.
