Hades II - Technical Test Full Playthrough! Beating Headmistress Hecate On My First Try!

Hades 2 just released a technical test, which you can sign up for through Steam. This is NOT the final game, but will give you a glimpse as to what the full game has to offer. I am SO excited for this! I am a HUGE fan of the first game, having earned every achievement/trophy on both Steam and PS5. I have been waiting for the day to get my hands on this for so long, and could not be happier with it so far!
In this game, you play as Melinoe instead of Zagreus. There also seems to be a bunch of new faces in the main hub, such as Odysseus and Nemesis. Skelley is back in the form of Schelemeus, and Hypnos has also returned, but is apparently asleep (go figure lol). Charon is also back, selling you items during a run if you go through his door. I am VERY excited to see the interactions with the new NPCs and to learn more about their lore. The lore in Hades was one of the biggest reasons I loved the game!
Combat is very similar to the first Hades, so if you played the first game, you should know what to expect. One big difference is now you have a magic meter, which you can expend by charging up your attacks. It looks like you unlock new abilities and such through Arcana, which you purchase with currency called Ash. So far, I saw one that slows down time as you charge your attacks, one that heals you a small amount when you leave a room (and doubles if you have less than 30% health), and one that adds more power to your casts.
There are spots to interact with again in rooms to learn more about the lore. Fishing spots have also returned,. There also seems to be something that looks like a mining spot, but just like fishing, you need to have a tool to interact with it. There are some items you can pick up in rooms as well that look like golden flowers. No idea what these are for yet, but I am guessing they can be used to unlock stuff. Keep an eye out for anything shimmery!
Again, this is a technical test, and is NOT the full version of the game. Currently, you can only play through until you beat Hecate, but even just this much gameplay has me eagerly awaiting Early Access, and then full release!

oh good god.... dam skelly fell into that past trick he played on us in the first one, and is now truely what he joked with zagreus about when he tried to pry into skelly's past

interesting, how did you get into the technical test? are they already choosing people or are these special keys given out to just a few?

Also, I just saw this on the Hades 2 store page: "A subset of players who request access will be invited to participate via an email from Steam with download instructions. We expect to start with a small player population, then grow it over time. So, even if you aren't invited to the Technical Test right away, you may still be invited later. Our process boils down to: invite some players, fix any problems they run into, invite more players, and so on. Once we're sufficiently confident that things are stable, we will wind down the Technical Test, then launch the game in Early Access relatively soon after. As the purpose of the Technical Test is to test the game with a relatively small audience, we may not be able to honor individual requests to participate. We will do our best to conduct the Technical Test as expeditiously as possible, then launch in Early Access, at which point the game will be available for anyone to purchase and play."

Hmm, I don't know for certain, BUT I would imagine that they will do the same thing they did for the first game. Probably release it on consoles after it comes out of early access on PC 👍 I honestly see no reason why they wouldn't with the success the first game had

@zxKAOS1 true, it did take a while for it to hit console. HOPEFULLY it won't take as long as this time so console Players can enjoy it ASAP! I guess it does depend when it comes out of Early Access though

Yeah you only get to beat Hecate 5 times before you can't start a run anymore until Early Access

@@elixirvowns Oh... so there's really no reward so to speak (besides whatever that red thing you collected was)? If so, then that's actually an incentive to NOT win :D

@zxKAOS1 lol I mean you aren't wrong! I beat the Technical Test in every run, and once I beat Hecate the fifth time, I could no longer start another run (it seals off the entrance). And it was getting SO good too
cant believe shes an int user, smh, be a strength build instead....
