Assuming the company actually takes your feedback. Riot's PTR for LoL actively has suggestions and feedback for Champs, both design wise and aesthetically and they don't listen.

That last bit was extremely important. Seriously what the fuck possessed them to forego having a PTR in the first place. Were people really complaining about him pointing out what he didn't like? Again, as Rax said THAT IS LITERALLY THE WHOLE POINT. Obviously the devs don't want testers being assholes about it, but you're supposed to be as critical as possible and try to break or find everything that's broken so it can be fixed before the season goes live. You really can't fix stupid, wow...

they are called game testers and they used to get paid for it. betas and ptr's were more about stability tests and making sure new systems are functioning as should. so instead they fired all the game testers and now we do it for them by pre-ordering the game to get early access. time has already proven they dont care what people want. the logs they get from crashes and just people playing give them all the info they need. you're complaining on forums and posting issues is purely to get activity and interactions up. closing yourself in a box and calling everyone stupid is a pro move lmao

These are the kind of serious and nit-picking players that a PTR needs. Not the kind of people who join a PTR just to play with the new stuff before everyone else and dont help inprove the game.

I'd argue the percentage is higher than that. I'd also wager its roughly the same percentage that will experience an issue/bug in a game and piss and moan endlessly about it but won't spend the 2 minutes required to fill out a bug report.

Public Test Realm - it's supposed to be testing for bugs, technical issues critiquing gameplay mechanics so that when it releases it's optimized fun and low chance of bugs. Basically free beta testing and feedback for Blizzard. But some people have been using PTR as an early access instead, not giving feedback and getting mad that people like Raxx are using it for it's intended use case. @@z0ned27

As much as I agree with Raxx, I also don't understand how come a game development company needs constant feedback from players to properly develop a game. It's just nuts to me, that we are no longer just consumers, we are part of their development lifecycle. Don't get me wrong, I wholly agree with Raxx, because only an absolute idiot wouldn't. But the whole matter is really just fucked. They're really trying to salvage the game by leveraging what people want, literally asking them what they want, and as attentive as that may sound, it's still entirely absurd how out of touch they are with their own project.

It's especially bad when you developed those flaws because that makes you so intimately familiar with them. Often it's only when trying to train others to use the flawed systems that you realise it would be easier to just fix them.

I gave tons of feedback and said that the game needs at least 6 more months developement before it can be released. Got flamed in the forums 24/7 for that....don't bother, you only missed raging kids flaming you bcs you give constructive feedback to a game. ^^

I mean why not.....100.000 eyes see more than 1000 and as bigger the game as more eyes are required. Game developement isn't as easy as you think and as soon as you change 1 thing 100 other things break. Plus who knows better what players want & enjoy than player themself? ;)

First of all, he's 100% right. Second, I love when he goes off on the stupids in his chat. More streamers need to check their 'audience' more when they speak nonsense.

Feel like people like that use PTR as just cheat codes to actually be max level and have good gear for once cause they cant do it themselves. People like Rax actually use the PTR for its designed purpose.

Well, to be fair. Getting best in slot and attempt to push and test boundaries is a part of PTR aswell. Its not all about bugs and glitches. But also to see if something is just to broken and shouldnt be in game in its current state.

This is why normal people shouldn't participate in beta tests or PTR's. If they're not going to give constructive criticism and only look at these moments as a chance to play something early; then they're not helping anyone. Alpha and Beta tests aren't designed to provide optimal play experience - they're designed to work through possible issues and get as many things resolved and new things implemented before going live. This is why devs include automated data gathering with their betas now; because they know most users just won't even bother and barely understand how to put on their socks in the morning.

if we're being nitpicky; that's not how you do the timeout gesture. place your left palm ontop of the fingers on your right hand next time (or the other way around) the idea is to make a standing T for Timeout. what does your gesture signify though? I have no idea. a bridge? a mountain maybe? who knows.

The only thing I've seen that needs to change indefinitely is increasing the drop rate of cinders during helltide. Also, make NMD inside of the current helltide location drop cinders or have a chance to drop boss materials on completion...Thoughts???

The problem is that the base is bad. Nitpicking doesn't do shit at that point. The whole system with the legendary powers and all that crap just makes the loot not exciting. Period. I never thought they could make it worse than d3 and somehow they managed to do it.

Im in IT and have to advice my management consistently when they say "dont for great go for good" that what we think is great is mediocre to them. Get things changed for the right reasons. Folks getting nit picky were probably the ones who didnt believe the scientists in the movie.

Its not they haven't been in PTR before but they use PTR as if its a demo for the next season rather trying to test and find those game breaking bugs along with testing itemizations and give them critical feedback on this. 100% agree with on this.

Gunna say it now. Whenever a youtuber says "better" what they really mean is "How i believe everyone should play the game because it helps ME" the PTR players that give several page long reports, that dont stream or make vidoes, are the ones that actually make the game universally better. People can jump down my throat all they want, but this is the truth. Its also why when any form of test is done and an NDA is involved that doesnt let them make videoes, they wont partake in it because they can't make money from it.

A PTR is like whole division of game testers outsourced to the public for free. That's why ptr testers are super important!

I had to walk away from D4. It just wasn't doing it for me. But you are absolutely in the right here. PTRs exist, in any game, for the sole reason of being nitpicked to death and beyond. That's what they are for.

I agree 100% it's the ptr now is the time to crank that nitpick dial to 11. The whole purpose is to find, expose and ideally offer ideas to fix problems. The same people whining about being nitpicky on the PTR are the same people that get an invite to a closed alpha/beta and never even look at the forum/discord to provide feedback and just use it as a demo play through of a game.

It's not d4 that needs to change but the teams that manage projects at Blizzard. because all the triple as that blizzard has are all in decline

I just started playing D3 seasons with number 27. I don't recall if I tried PTR 29 or 30, but your description of the purpose makes so much sense. I know that any play can run the PTR, but having experience players a way to provide feedback is awesome. I hope that newer seasonal players like myself can learn from your PTR videos. When a game is released, every stat and interaction should be viewed as a choice. Maybe the developers made that choice, maybe they overlooked it and theres a complaint. PTR is them saying these are our next choices, and if you arent contributing then youll get the stick when they choose wrong because they didnt get feedback. PTR != Exclusive early release for advertisement

I am always amazed that every day people prove that some are even more stupid than I would ever believe possible. A PTR is exactly that. A "place" for those who really want to improve something and/or find errors. Pass this information on to the developers in the most respectful and precise way possible. The point that many simply cannot understand/grasp is..... that there is a huge difference between CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and blunt moaning.

Raxx is 100% right. The PTR is a full community test of the new features. NOW is the time for specific quality feedback. Being nit-picky is a VERY good thing. I don't nitpick as much when I'm playing games or checking out a PTR as much, but it's different for me. Making and Testing games and software is my JOB/CAREER. I play games like Diablo 4 for fun. The instant it becomes a job for me, I'm done.

Agreed! People should treat PTR servers like anything they say could be fixed in the next patch. You never know which develop will look at your 'nit-picky' problem and say 'that's an easy fix in an hour or two' and do it. 'Nit-picky' problem by nature are small things and the chances of them being easily and quickly fixable are much higher than absolutely game-breaking. bugs.

2 months later but "nitpicky" made frozen orb less viable. I think certain things should stay the same, frozen orb without changes would have had it in s tier but not above the classes currently stable in s tier.

I am 100% with you on this Raxx. If people don't agree they should leave also, that trash comments getting old very quick.

Not saying this is fact, but from my experiences, the people who point out "nitpicking,' especially during a PTR, are nothing but a bunch of casuals who have no qualms about just up and quitting the game one day. Us long term players, the ones who will ultimately have to deal with the state of the game for what it is AND for a much longer period of time, are the ones who "nitpick." We want our game to be good and to be good for EVERYBODY. So, if our "nitpicking" annoys you, you're free to let yourself out the door because you're not helping. On a side note, I am having one of the best times in D4 right now with Loot Reborn. Although I think tempering is a scam and the most popular affixes aren't weighted as high as other affixes, so it makes me stick up my middle finger at Blizzard whenever I get the perfect roles on a piece of gear. Other than that, great times.
