HABU \\ DIY Espresso Machine
Ойын-сауық
I found this old medical pressure chamber and decided to build a espresso machine out of it... It really works and the coffee is amazing!
Have fun!

I would watch that, it would be very interesting. However I'm imagining his comments would be something like - great looking machine if steampunk is your vibe and your not at all worried about the best tasting espresso. It's a great build video though and I'm definitely impressed.

James would have a fit about the brewing temperature. Then again, it's so cool that I think even he could get over it

He wouldnt endorse it, because the espresso coming out has zero crema.

Not really, this is a fine art object, not an actual espresso maker. No thermometer, the "basket filter" is just a joke etc.
Pressure relief valve man! You don't want to burn someone's face up.

I'm thinking the original pressure vessel already has a pressure relief valve in it.
You're Sr are the quintessence of a craftsman.
People tend to say, that the problem with single shot groupheads is the amount of coffee you put in is too little to make a tall enough puck. Hence, the double portafilter is best, because it's tall and has "drainage holes" up to the edge. Looking at this - they had it all figured out from the start: 11:02 they made the portafilter narrow. That really looks easy to tamper, fits nice and snug!
That’s pretty crazy looking. Fantastic bit of work. Really well made.
For future reference, when brazing, with either silver, brass, bronze and even when just gass welding, keeping things at an ideal temperature is always the biggest hurdle. Having your parts sit on a piece of copper like that, sucks all the heat out of your parts. You'll get much better results using a fire brick.
🤔 Steampunk Espresso Machine cool Idea 👍🏻💪🏻
The Authentic "Steam Punk" ! 👍
Somebody is swiping your vids….saw their posting of this one first, then found your channel,…..⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍💪💪😎😎
Nice creation similar to the very first coffee machine, steam-driven, the historic Moriondo (1884) steam bulk-brewer machine. At the time the best coffee was meticulously prepared similarly to how hot chocolate or turkish coffee are made today, boiling and cooling and mixing continuously , a frustratingly long task that took half an hour. Gaggia (first water piston lever machine, 1945) and Faema (first water electric pump machine , 1961) and others evolved that ancient 19th century idea towards the machines we use today but the principle of this experiment is basically sound and as exposed in the video the machine works perfectly. The brew quality is probably towards very bitter tones as steam as rightly noticed by many others tends to burn the coffee (modern espresso is extracted with water around 93 Celsius degrees), but coffee none the less. I would choose this over Starbuck's every day, no doubt.
This has steampunk written all over it ;) love it!

Brah you are incredible a jack of all trades. WOW, that coffee machine is SICK PROPS.
This is the only stovetop espresso machine rendition ive found that has its boiling water exit pipe be down low rather than at the top relying on the pressure to push boiling water up a tube then over and down into the puck which can cause steam/sputtering/unevenextraction. If your model had a 58mm basket it would be the best ive seen on yt!
you should make a venturi tube for that burner. that yellow flame will make your boiler very sooty
A cup for break time in style... nice build
Bravo! I think that I have never seen, A poem as lovely as the bean!
The steam punkest espresso machine I've ever seen! Soooooooo cool! :D
for everyone bashing the guy... he took something he is an expert at and built this from scratch himself, i'd drink a cup any day with him , just the stories alone about making it..

coolest thing i've seen all day....week....month!
Nice job bro! Looks great!
Wow love this Watching from South Africa
Absolutely brilliant
Great stuff! Beautiful machine. maybe a venturi just before the burner would help the flame
That's one serious coffee machine!!! Brilliant!
that looks gorgeous
SUPER COOL

The problem will be to remove the coffee filter, it will be hot and the metal expands with the heat and could tighten, excellent
Fun project. 💥💥💚👽
Brilliant!! I'm going to try and make something similar.
Amazing.
Man..just..WOW😍
Well, it looks water is over temp for espresso. Put termomanometer combo two in one dial, used for older type of central heating. Or just termometer, near outlet... Also pressure release would be nice. You can link it mechanically to the gas valve to shut it of... Just a thought... Otherwise, just fine looking piece!
@ironmantooltime
3 жыл бұрын
Yes looks nice but utterly pointless youtube clickbait. Pumps over temp scalding steam hot water through coffee rendering a) not espresso and b) undrinkable. Still, Tube 4k noobs think its dope so gotta luv dem views right.
@SporeSpood

A thermometer won't help. To get the pressure to 9 bars the water temperature needs to be nine times higher (in kelvin) (P scales with T according to the ideal gas law). That is why there is a pump or a spring loaded lever in an actual espresso machine to mechanically create 9 bars of pressure at a reasonable temperature. Man builds a bomb here.

@@SporeSpood For sure. You need it at the head, before entering coffe puck. So you know what are you doing, if you want consistent results for your espresso. Also the time it needs for breew. But I guess he wanted to build a glorified Moka pot... So all bets are off :-)

I am in awe of your creativity and inventiveness.
Cool, however as mentioned the water temperature is way too hot! The key difference lies in how the brewing pressure is built. Espresso machines build optimal 8 bar pressure with mechanical force and not with the thermal expansion, this has to do with optimal brewing temperature being around 97C, in order to maintain such "low" temperature mechanical force has to be applied to the water. Most machines use a pump however, old school ones use leaver actuated piston to generate the force. You could add such a component your machine, would be super cool to see you make it and upgrade the build!

My thoughts exactly, it's already good but with a lever this thing would be amazing. It's worth pointing out that the lever would not only allow for lower temperatures, but also pre-infusion and brewing pressure stability. Wish I had those machining skills though!
Excellent 👍👌🤟
Thank you.
Das ist ja Cool 👍😎👍
