There used to be a lot more like him. In my reading I’ve been surprised to find that in the early aftermath of the 1967 war, it was much more common for Israelis to identify the occupation as an apartheid regime and speak out against it. Nowadays they constitute a disturbingly thin minority. Opposition to the occupation seems to have changed from being a center-left position in Israeli politics to one embraced mostly by Israeli radicals.

I was following "Shovrim Shtika" group and they were doing great job to expose the Israeli army and in their glowing days a lot of young people were refusing to do their military service in the occupied territories, now you can bearly hear about them. The left wing has shrinked in front of the right wing specially the extremists.

No, it's different. Even though, like in Germany, the main media outlets in Israel are not showing the atrocities being done, in Israel today everyone has access to the internet, and specifically KZread, where all of them could easily see the truth. That didn't exist in Hitler's Germany; there, all free media was eliminated very early. As most of the exterminations were done in Poland (deliberately, to hide the horror) most Germans did not know about them, although they did know about forced labour camps that existed within Germany.

Gideon was recently interviewed by Owen Jones and explained that no one in Israel gets any reports about what is going on in Gaza, the Israeli media is wall to wall coverage and analysis of hostage families and pouring over the losses on 7th Oct. Admittedly the events of 7th Oct were horrific, but that has been far exceeded several fold by the killing of 22,000 non combatant civilians, the on going destruction and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

You are right. So many people in Germany must have had some knowledge of what was happening and they turned a blind eye to the plight of Jews, gypsies, disabled people who were being persecuted and murdered by the nazis.
