The new scope system is an absolute treat, I'm sure I'm not the only person who avoided magnified optics as much as possible before now. I can't wait to start making good use of them in Institution. The new scopes are, amusingly, easier to use than the old ones! I am so glad for this update

This is literally the most underrated and best value for money VR game in existence. YEARS after release still getting these deep content and gameplay updates, for anybody who likes guns and shooting/manipulating them it's basically mandatory. I doubt any game, VR or not, will match Anton's H3VR depth and breadth of content surrounding firearms.

For the 1903. Marines know how to pick scopes for accuracy. M1903 Springfield with 8x Unertl scope was only used with the Marines in WW1. The US Army Used Warner and Swasey 6x scope.

Carry handle ACOG about to make me buy a refurbished headset so I can play this again. DONT TEMPT ME WITH THE RETRO SET UPS ANTON I'LL DO IT

Not necessarily a magnified scope, but would love to eventually see the wacky "red dot" of the ar-18 in H3 while we're on the topic of sights. The one where its closed and just fiber-optic and you have to use 2 eyes to merge the sight and target images from either eye. Feels fitting for H3.

@@FoxyRiley its very hard to find online and I've only seen a couple of images of them on ar-180's, but they're called occluded eye gunsights (OEG). Theres a video by Brandon Herrera where he has one with his ar-180 and talks about it briefly (around the 9 minute mark) but finding any info on them proves challenging. Not even the many different version of the manual for the ar-180 I can find online reference it, only the magnified optic we see here - but those are the US manuals and the one in the video mentioned is supposed to be representative of the rifles used by the IRA during their fight against Britain in the 70's-90's. I cant seem to find any mention of any part name/number either unfortunately. Wish I knew more myself.

small update: continued looking and skimmed through forgotten weapons video on the ar-18/0 and he mentions that armalight only produced 2 versions of the magnified optic (only difference being reticle and range reading position) which leads me to believe the OEG in question is aftermarket. Regardless, neat piece of kit and elusive nonetheless.

I want the armson ARG, not sure if you can replicate how it works but fun fact, the company still makes the gen1 retro carry handle ones and new Pic rail models, would also love some of the wacky bulky early red dots, the crazy over the top LAMs with built in iron sights (the kind you see in 80s action films on DEs or M1911 hardballers), bonus points if we get the top mounted maglight mount for our SAS enjoyers and hell, if it's modeled a meli maglight and a rail adapter for it so we can larp as 1980s/90s mall ninjas

Slide bolting changed my early take and hold so much, glad the option is in there.

I hope your teeth feel better soon. I also just had a medical scare a little while ago. I needed surgery for an inguinal hernia (The doctor found 3 hernias while I was under). Everything got patched up and turned out okay tho in the end. I can't really play the game as I'm still a bit sore, it's been about 3 weeks since but pain still comes and goes. I'm really excited to try out the new and improved springfield scope when I'm fully up and at it again! I absolutely love super long scopes and antique weapons.

This is the only game where I really want the developer to release a paid DLC, simply because I don't feel my initial $20 payment is enough for all the work the dev team is putting in.

Diemaco carry handle last update and TA01 this one, you're working through my wishlist beautifully

I really appreciate all the suffering you've gone through making all these small physicalized controls. I've made physicalized driving controls in the past and hoo boy, that was suffering. Making the physics controller read the joints was easy. Figuring out why the UNBREAKABLE joints would sometimes break was painful. May I suggest a scope? Athlon makes a great 2-12x MPVO that would be a good middle ground scope for Take and Hold. Easily has the best FFP MPVO reticle on the market.

I JUST GOT H3VR AND WOW... the sosigs are so big!? It's my first ever VR game and seeing them be the same size as me is TRIPPY. also, please add quickbolting on quest 2/streamlined/whatever - Take And Hold is just casually impossible with bolt actions and it's sort of the main mode

16:30 Anton, as I mentioned in the previous devlog, the J8F1 (for the FRF2 rifle) is also like that, but in the last devlog you were using the center line (i.e. 450m or something) instead of the topmost line (100m). I can't check in-game right now to see if it's really an issue in the game, or if you had changed the zero off-screen. Anyway, good luck with your dental work! :)

The m1897 shotgun also has a bayonet, and I believe it was made to take that off the Springfield.

It actually uses the M1917 bayonet, for the M1917 Enfield Rifle. It that bayonet will not fit the M1903 Springfield

When the grenade launchers were brought up, I had a brief moment where I thought this might be the day when the MGL gets its crazy M2A1 optic. But it was not that day, and I'm still happy because this optic rework is incredible. Keep it up, but not at the expense of severe dental pain!

Not sure whether I'ma play with the Lee Enfield, the combo-scope, or that 6-36x beast first. Do hope we see the GhostDR updated soon!

Would you ever consider adding a magazine fed lever-action rifle? There are some videos on lever-action AR rifles and it looks like it would be awesome for take and hold! Thank you Anton for all your work on h3vr! It has become one of my top 3 favorite video games I have ever played.

I didn't notice anything bad with the python scope before this, still looks better tho. Also, LOVE the hammer scope, its always been my favorite and now its even better!

can you do the kalashnikov charging bolt reload possible? just so you can hold on the charging bolt and make body collision true at that time so we can then put the mag in, drop the bolt and fire?

Suggestion: you should add a blunderbuss, and the paper cartridge could hold 4-5 balls. I would love to see this in the game!

I love the Carry Handle ACOG, but buying a scope for a picatinny rail and getting that scope was so infuriating, but hilarious.

I'd like to see an adapter that goes on rifles like the sharps and model 8 that lets you use the other sights and scopes.

While on the subject of scopes, do you think you could add an Aimpoint CS like red dot? The Ak5 looks so wrong and empty without it.

Is he going to add a type search function to the item spawner? If anyone knows? not necessarily with the physical keyboard, but just "typing" with the controllers in vr

Do you have any plans to add another TnH station, for example, that would allow players to buy weapon specific attachments to use in TnH runs? With all the vastly improved scopes it would be super fun to be able to get them "legitimately" in a run without praying you get the right adapter from the random rolls

Hey Anton! Do you have any plans on adding new visual effects/sounds of bullets hitting objects? For example, it looks and sounds cool in Escape from Tarkov, if you shoot a wall which is 10-20 meters from you, you will hear a satisfying *blamp* sound, would be cool to hear it in such awesome gun handling simulator!

There are already impact sounds and effects. I just mix them differently. Tarkov is a PVP game so they over-emphasize them. I do not.

@@AntonHand You might be right, but those sounds are almost completely silent because of the weapons being much louder, bullet is a bullet, and it hits the wall with a lot of power, i think it wont hurt to have more impactful sound to it.

Quick question, haven't played the game alot yet, but how do the scopes work? Especially with zeroing for different calibers and barrel lengths

The scope auto-zeros to a 'base' distance value per caliber, which it auto detects from the gun. The 'Base Zero' parameter in the scope menu allows you to set this distance.

I wish there was a night vision scope in the game and a dark map to play around with

This might just be me being dumb, but when I was playing with the optics, it felt like, when I turned my hand clockwisez the knob went counter clockwise, and vice versa.
