Save as much as you can during your H1B , invest in India , at-least 2 properties….settle back in India…that’s was my plan and I am back in India happily….from my experience it’s not so tough for us to settle back in India…I seem to get all facilities right here in Bangalore…

The worst part for many such people who've been on H1B for so long is that they have become much older, by the time they realize they can't just stay in the US anymore, hence won't get any points if they attempt to immigrate to another country. Also, it should be noted that PERM rejections have increased significantly, so that is a trap as well which few see coming.

I worked in usa for 3 years in year 2000, though I had opportunity to continue. .returned back with no regrets. I am happy to be in india, as every country has its own advantages and disadvantages. ..but it's personal choice and interest of individual matters

Very well-articulated video. Loved the manner in which all the useful information was presented. Would be wonderful to have more of such practical advice for international students who currently work in USA! I am on STEM OPT right now and working as a Data Scientist in Chicago. I'm not sure if it makes more sense to go back directly after my STEM OPT ends in 2026 or whether I should first use the 3-years of H1B and then go back in 2028/2029 without renewing H1B again? I haven't been selected through H1B lottery in my first attempt... so the second situation I described is more of a fictitious scenario at this point.

I feel like everything has pros and cons. I am a non indian national got my greencard 4 years back. I used to feel unlucky before as we didn't get quality education and professional exposure back in our country the way India provides to their professionals. I saw my indian coworkers were so knowledgeable and came to usa with so much advanced experience which honestly speaking many countries in the world don't. But this makes a pros to some of us as not so many people from other countries can come to US and cons to our indian friends as people from there can come numbers. However, even after getting this GC, I see so many pros and cons and eventually what I feel now is nothing actually matters. Just feel lucky whatever opportunity life provides you to and ignore what does not.

So well phrased, at times being a parent of a student aspiring fr H1b it becomes difficult to explain, pacify, console ur children that it's alright to get back & ur welcomed back home but they feel they need to b best in a place they like & so it's best to allow them to try & understand it well, the strains of life there & here & not force too much, they vl get it right either ways, things hv to b done ur own way it always settles well mentally instead of hving repentance later fr not even trying when opportunities proved right just on parental pressure

If you ever get too old waiting for a US GC and have given up waiting for that dream a good option to consider moving to is NZ which gives PR up to age 55. Kiwis can now also gain Aussie citizenship directly without having an Aussie PR first and there's also no age limit to become an Aussie. One can also gain Canadian PR up to age 59 thru Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland & Labrador's provincial nomination.

Even he came to USA to get an H1B, it is easy to say this once you have crossed the bridge.

Lottery system benefits Indian IT service companies. Ideally, H1Bs should be allotted based on wages. When it is based on lottery, low paid workers sneak in which is what Indian IT companies want. NASSCOMM lobbies heavily to tilt the scale in their favor and USCIS ends up getting the blame...

been on H1b for 8 years(recently quit), for desi people with GC aspiration it's certainly a golden cage which traps you into superficial comforts and robs you from your freedom. Feels like a soft slavery as well. It could be a good option as a short term to earn big salary or to experience the US.

By July 16, the Canadian government will create an open work-permit stream to allow 10,000 American H-1B visa holders to come and work in Canada. Approved applicants for the new programme will receive an open work permit of up to three years in duration, which means they will be able to work for almost any employer anywhere in Canada. Their spouses and dependants will also be eligible to apply for a temporary resident visa, with a work or study permit, as needed.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow start introducing nationality-based limitation caps for the H1B visa.

Canada should be a backup option for many of those who are on the verge of being sent back. It is advisable to exercise this option regardless of whether you get your h1-b renewed or not.

My family is an example of a family that raised their kids here as dependents. I was 5 when we moved here, and I’m 17 now. I’m just as American as all my peers, but not on paper. It’s traumatic to grow up in your own home knowing that your country does not care if it loses you. It’s traumatic going back to “your home country” and not fitting in because you didn’t grow up there (and there is also a lot of bullying targeted towards indian children who grew up in America). The thought of graduating, going to college, aging out, and then getting stuck myself in the awful immigration system is a nightmare for me. I don’t feel like I can stay here and I don’t feel like I can stay in India because of the huge difference in culture (especially as a woman). Right now, my most promising plan is to study in Europe, where the culture is similar but the immigration system isn’t as messed up. Where it is safer due to less gun violence, less violence against women, and where education is cheaper at a higher quality.

"Not getting H1B May also be a pro". I hope that the 900k indian immigrants living in USA understand this

1. People need to relax about things that are out of their control. 2.Just because your child will age out of status after 21 years , should not let you see H1B as a bad thing/golden cage. Countless things can change in 21 years.(these problems did not even exist 21 years ago and if they did, those people already have GC now) 3.For people born in middle class families in India, it is difficult to make as much wealth as they will make in USA on H1B. So come with realistic expectations and earn as much money as possible. 4.Even if you had to go back to India after working in US for many years, you financial status would have changed. You will have multiple properties, servants at home etc. Of course first couple years will be difficult after moving back to India but you will get adjusted to these ‘new’ conditions. India has many problems right now , but those might not be there for at least rich people after 15/20 years. Conclusion : Chill & count your blessings for what you have instead of things you cannot get because of conditions that are out of your control.

Great video sir! I completed my master's degree (thesis track) in 2020 and now back in India after completing my STEM OPT. I wasn't lucky enough to get my H1B because of Covid and also the kind of fraud (multiple applications) that was going on during the past couple years.

Why not move to Canada where getting PR is becoming a dime a dozen. If I'm not mistaken it even has a special fast-track stream for former H-1B holders in the US. On top of that if you ever get Canadian citizenship all your SSS contributions in the US as a former H-1B worker wouldn't go to waste since Canada has a treaty with the US that would allow you to gain credit for those deductions. As a Canadian you can also travel visa free to the US and stay there for 6 months. You also have the option to work in the US on a TN visa assuming you find an employer to sponsor you.

Comes with a cost. Have to do blue collar job in Canada. Corporate jobs not easy to get. I got Canadian PR but sticking to my current job in USA. Now waiting for my GC since 2013, I have lost interest in both US & Canada. To hell with both…lol. Planning to go back to India.

The U.S. values diversity, over technical knowledge, that is why there is a per country cap. You can't escape the reality that the H-1b visa encourages companies to game the system. This results in a huge imbalance of workers from one country. Then there is a resulting big backlog in the Green Card system, for that country. If we instead allocated H-1b visas based upon salary, the backlogs would go away in a few years. This is because higher salaries will motivate people from all over the world to move to the U.S. Right now, workers in Europe and Israel are at parity in salary with the U.S. But this will never happen, because immigration law groups like the backlogs. It is a huge yearly repeat business for them. And it is immigration lawyers that are hired to lobby Congress and President for changes. We also should not give a 15% tax break to incentivize the hiring of foreign STEM/IT students over our local STEM/IT students. Early in my career, my boss hated the fact that he had to pay Social Security tax on my behalf, he let me go and hired a foreign OPT student. This is the reality folks, just telling you like it is. At this point in my career, I don't really care if people from India game the H-1b program and flood the Green Card program (for decades). But if you hear what I am saying, you will realize that despite it not being in my best interest, the change to a Salary based allocation of H-1b visas will fix the program for everyone. But it will never happen, because politically the H-1b backlog is used as a gravy train for immigration lawyers and politicians. Why fix the program? when they can complain about it and give lip-service to people seeking citizenship and corporation seeking a trapped workforce?

There are few permanent jobs. Most of the jobs are contracting jobs offered by Indian consulting companies.

They aren’t opposing immigration, but they are encouraging diversity and don’t want too many from one nationality to dominate the work force. It’s just fair that others coming from much poorer regions who face much more hardships are not disadvantaged by middle class elites from one or two countries.

after 6 years one must go back for at least one year. However, if their green card has been filed, they can keep extending until the green card is approved or denied. If it is in the process, they keep extending.

better to put country cap on H1B, after few years everyone will get GC then.

not really. Every time I take a long break, I make a video on a topic that more people can relate to. I touch this topic every 10 videos or so to keep viewership up because more people are interested in this than other topics. My real goal is to inspire people to pursue PhD level education. People find out about me from these videos first and then they hear what I say on the topics I really care about. This was my first video in 4.5 months. My next few videos will not be on this topic.

American doller is loosing its charm... America now is not like what it used to be.... Pllzz try to understand this... That country is going through Debt 😂😂😂....
