    It has come to my attention that I need to have this plane. I hope it comes back in stock before it gets dropped. I love how the bent wing bird looks in the air. This is the perfect format for flying over the bare creek that is my backyard.

    Nice that this HK Corsair doesn't want to drop out of the sky like their smaller version. Beautifully flown, Adam. It was interesting to check out your flying field on Google Maps. The camera always foreshortens the distance to the trees and makes it look like a tricky place to fly (to me, but I'm a numpty!)

    Thank you miss Gina! Very cool you checked that little field out. It is tight...not overly so when you're slow, but it gets interesting in a hurry when you're haulin' tail! This little bugger moves when you shove the throttle forward!

    Adam, I like your no BS reviews. I do like the old fashioned colors of the HK Corsair. After seeing this video I just had to get one. I'm an intermediate pilot with little experience hand launching planes but I'm confident I can launch it just fine. Could you tell me the throttle to rudder mix you used? I didn't see it in your set up. Keep the vids coming. Tom, from North Augusta, SC

  • @ModelAV8RChannel

    @ModelAV8RChannel

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Tom thanks for the kind words! Glad you like our content. I suggest getting someone to launch for you on the maiden (I did) so you can get her trimmed out and test your mix before you do it yourself. I actually had a buddy do it several times until I got it dialed in. My mix launching at about 55 to 60% throttle is: THR>RUD Rate -34%, Offset -100 With my overall throw that works out to 53% Deflection at full throttle, and about 35% deflection at 55% throttle. Depending on how you set your throws (In servo travel or rates) and what you set them to those numbers may vary. The advantage of having help launching while you get it figured out is you are on the sticks, so if it isn't enough or is too much you can react, flip it off, land, adjust, and try again. If it is way off you may not be able to get your launch hand back on the TX in time. Once its working right you can be confident in giving launching it a go yourself. Hope this helps! Have fun with it...great plane!

    why does hobby king suck so bad at building models that can easily get the correct CG?? I have built many many models and every HK plane I have tried to fly have lasted 3 seconds. Every one was a huge struggle to get the correct or at least close cg.

  • @ModelAV8RChannel

    @ModelAV8RChannel

    2 жыл бұрын

    Michael, I've built a ton over the years myself and worked at hobby shop building, setting up, and test flying planes for customers for about 6 years. Center of gravity is a personal preference and every plane has a range they can be flown in from some degree of tail heavy to a great deal nose heavy. I've seen folks that like them as far back as they can get them for throwing them around and doing wild stuff to folks that liked them so nose heavy I thought they flew like a brick. Different strokes for different folks I guess. All that is relevant because when a planes manual is written for any company, the CG is very often what that one product developer testing the plane and writing the manual prefers. The CG in any manual is nothing more than a starting point. I've departed from the manuals suggested CG about as often as I've stayed in the suggested range (and that is with every companies airplanes, HK, Horizon, Motion, etc). To be fair, some planes are harder to get the CG right than others because of the planes design and center of mass point. For instance, short nosed biplanes like a WWI Sopwith Camel are harder to get the balance right and the range isn't as forgiving usually. Others are crazy forgiving, like an Extreme Flight 3D plane...they will fly with the battery all the way forward or all the way back against the wing tube, and that's about 3 or 4 inches of movement in a 48" airplane. To be honest, I haven't found HK's airplanes to be any harder to get balanced and flying right than any others. I'm not saying this is relevant to you, but it is relevant to a lot of people. I think many RC pilots are spoiled by the gyros (AS3X in Horizon planes for instance). They make corrections for slight balance issues as the gyro doesn't know if the uncommanded climb it is correcting for is wind or that the plane is a touch tail heavy. That is why, with other Gyros that can be turned off, sometimes you'll find the plane is somehow "out of trim" when you flip it off. Setting up a Horizon plane that does not have AS3X is no different than setting up an HK plane to me. Adjusting the battery placement, adding ballast if needed...those are just part of setting up anything to me and part of modeling. However, some folks want them perfect out of the box, and the suggested set up to be spot on. Obviously, for the reasons discussed here...no manuals set up will be right for everybody. Of course, based on experience and skill level, results may vary. Also, folks like me enjoy testing, tweaking, and refining the set up on their airplanes. Others don't enjoy the modeling part of the hobby so much. I will concede that some HK planes require more modeling skill than your basic Horizon Hobby AS3X/SAFE equipped foamy.
