Catalina is on another level here. Few gymnasts can work beam like this. She is part of the greats on this event like Shannon Miller, Yang Bo, and Silivas and Dobre. Just so effortless, exact, deliberate, total control. I will add the word dominate to Ponor as it comes to mind in watching her here in one of the great masterpiece performance of many for her on this event. Bravo

Catalina Ponors beam technique and strategy is what every coach should be showcasing to their gymnast student. even when she seems even the most microscopic bit of off she attacks and salutes the skill which forces even the tiniest wobble to look SOLID. she has near to not deductions when it comes to her skills just because of that, she always attacks the skills and keeps it flowing so the possibility of a wobble doesn’t even have a chance to present itself, this is a solid beam set.

I have never been a big fan of carly patterson or courtney kuppets. Carly always did the big skills but she is very robotic with her dance and its almost like her fingers are glued together. It dosent flow like it should. Courtney Kuppets does what I call " cookie cutter" gymnastics. She isnt a very exciting gymnastics bc she does the same skills as every other gymnast on the planet. I also have to mention the fact that she cant dance to save her life!

@QPHashSS77 I absolutely agree with you, people simply don,t understand. When Carly attacks the beam, she shows even more decision and courage than a North Korean soldier, and it,s to admire her natural grace, so free and far from the russians and roumanians, boringly attached to a kind of internal music that doesn,t let them show a true freedom of expression. Carly was the first to teach that everyone, on the beam as in his life, has to do exactly what he or she wants, and that treating the beam or the floor as a blacksmith is graceful, not only, though also, funny, so boring la Catalina. What a shame, this warrior of the gymnastics, even with her sweaty gold, has been obviously underrated.
