So I was informed incorrectly by Netflix that the first part contained 6 episodes when I got screeners...but when the show released there were 7 eps... My apologies for misspeaking about how many eps there were and for reviewing as if there were only 6.

@@Madikkensin I appreciate that, thank you!
This show hits way harder, knowing that it's based off of Unit 731 of the Japanese army during WW II. This unit conducted inhumane experiments with human subjects, and have committed severe war crimes. What makes me rage is that members of this unit were not penalized for their war crimes, under the condition that they transfer the data from human experiments to the US government as far as I know. The unit is not well known, especially in Japan because the Japanese education system actively tries to sweep this unit under the rug. They need to make more shows like this that deal with real war crimes.

That’s exactly what I thought when I first watched it. The similarities are chilling.
For what it's worth, Gyeong Seong is an old name for Seoul.
I thoroughly enjoyed it a lot, I binged it in a couple of days. It makes gutted that we won't get another season of 'Kingdom', this show has elements that remind of that zombie show based in a period time era. Definitely looking forward to part 2.

????.... Euh I recently read an article saying that the creator/show runner of "Kingdom" was working on a new season.

@@Poufkimashoula1 a year ago or so, there were articles and youtube videos regarding the status of kingdom. At that time if I remember the show wasn't cancelled but it was getting renewed.. maybe now it's different. They can move forward with it, but that news that i read was an old piece(s). Only 'Kingdom' related piece I am aware of was that solo movie regarding the origin of the plant as well as the female protagonist who caused the outbreak. As for current news, I don't really follow current related shows or movies.
Can't wait to watch. I'm a fan of Han So-hee from the Netflix show My Name that she starred in. Thanks for the review.
Just google unit 731. It will be easy to understand the background of this drama. Except for the creature part, the inhumane biological experimentations, (i.e. vivisection) actually happened by Japanese unit 731 near Harbin in Manchuria during WW2. It is a very well-known fact among Asians, but, ironically, not to young Japanese people though as their government doesn’t teach them. The atrocities done to Chinese and Koreans who were dubbed as Maruta (log) and sacrificed by Japanese at the Unit 731are just horrific even to read.
Possibly the reason why some posted bad reviews and lowest scores is manipulative Korean media controlled by Japanese money.
It was a great choice to upload reaction videos of this drama. We need to pay attention to the reasons why this drama is maintaining its top position in several countries across Asia. Additionally, we need to objectively consider why someone intentionally disregards and criticizes this drama. This drama is set against the backdrop of the historical fact that Unit 731, a division of Japan during World War II, confined and killed hundreds of thousands of Asians in order to develop biochemical weapons.
Checking this out at the moment thank you for bringing this to my attention. Looks right up my alley
Loved it. Better than Stupid Rebel Moon 🌙..
Wow great review! Your very good at explaining movies. Ty for this
"Brotherhood of the Wolf" is a 2001 French period action-horror (creature feature) film that left a lasting impression on me when I saw it in my youth. It's moody and sumptuous from what I remember. Actually, I'm curious if it still holds up.
loved it can't wait for part two,
It's one of the shows that I was actually was able to sit down and watch.
Thank you for this review. Love this show. For those who want to hear and learn more, in our K Drama Chat podcast, we are recapping and analyzing Gyeongseong Creature episode by episode.
Fantastic show and great review! Despite the patchy CGI there’s enough character depth there to keep me going without exposition of people’s individual stories. I too miss Kingdom as a great horror drama but waiting to see if the final episodes deliver. So far I’m invested in the series. Any one else thrown by the last 30 seconds clip at the end of episode 7 though? I won’t spoil it for those that haven’t seen it
sounds good- thanks
@moviesandmunchies Thank you for the review. I look forward to watching this. I also watched a "Black Mirror" style Korean thriller "Night Has Come". It's about students trapped in a playing a game that involved murder. Supernatural vibes throughout the series adds a lot of tension. That's my recommendation. ☺

That sounds intriguing. I'm going to add it to my list, thanks!!
I love a creature feature
I started off super loving it. Thought it was a nice change of pace. Liked the historical bits. Love historical kdrama but dont see many from this time period. Like how they used the real history of how the Japanese treated them and the inhumane stuff. People seem to forget the horrible things they did even though it wasnt that long ago. I think its easy to when their culture of anime and video games and such is so appealing to us now. Anyways, i think the plit just got a little messy and the romance was so blah. Usually i love kdrama for romance. Its always so emotional and i felt nada with this. I didnt feel any chemistry and it seemed very clitche and pushed.
I will watch this one!!
Great thoughts my friend. Looking forwar to chatting about this one with you.
I was really hoping that Lady Maeda had a change of heart as the episode's progressed..... If he used his charm right towards her, it probably could've changed the entire scenario of the show......😢
Actually, your pronunciation was pretty damned good!

Cheers Chris! The only 'horror' I'll do generally is sci-fi/creature feature ;). Still working my way through the Chinese version of Three Body at the mo. 30x40+ mins eps takes some watching heh. Alien(s) is the pinnacle of course, The Thing, Prophecy (messed me up as a young teen), The Fly, Predator, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Tremors, to name a few favourites.
