What is cool is Endlers breeding with Guppies, lovely off spring. I agree 100% with the hands off approach

I really love guppies. I've had lots of them over the years. I set up a tank in my son's room recently with guppies and they freaked him out. He has mild autism and the frenetic energy of the guppies made him very anxious. He said they reminded him of rowdy teenagers. lol. So we re-homed the guppies and he has a nice roomy betta tank with some corys. Nice and calm, and comical with the pygmy corys. The betta ignores them mostly. I plan to set up another guppy tank eventually, and I think just having a single gender tank is advisable if you don't want a ton of babies!! Great video - thanks!

I'm with you on mixing the colours. I rescued a male normal guppie & got him a Sulphur & a Sapphire females to live with. I found him in two inches of very hot water (snails had all died in tank!) But he's got a bigger tail now & so much more colour. He's gorgeous 💕 Subscribed 😊

We breed but have single gender tanks and breed one at a time so not over run with babies. Then sell each lot before breeding another. I've a few select lines then do some random mixes. You.might want to treat your tank as a few were flashing at the bottom.

Awesome tank. So many guppies... I love guppies, but I can't have them cuz I don't have anything I can do with the overflow once they "get busy". I don't live near a pet store where I could sell them.

yea.... i stopped 'trying' to breed them and just let them do their own thing and eat some of the babies because i only have 1 store to give them to, the rest of the overflow i just try to give away to the community.

My experience with guppies. I've bought a single pair of black guppies. After a few months, because I had Hornwort in my tank (35 gallons, community tank), I had more that 100 guppies of various sizes. Females began to mature and have babies as well, to the point that now I consider guppy an "infection" in my tank.😐 I've removed all surface vegetation from the tank, added a pair of Kribensis to curb the fry population, but they did not turn out to be the "fry hunters", I had hoped. I must say that I've begin to get tired of guppies, tired of the constant race for "new blood", tired of their unceasing breeding, tired of the calling of specimens with birth defects, tired of their vulnerability to bacterial diseases. I'm also tired of them being the only species in my tank that has problems, while everyone else, including rummy noses, a species sensible to nitrates and diseases, the hobby's "canary in the mine" fish, has no problems, their noses are red an everything. I've heard that adding salt in guppy tanks help alleviate the diseases they can get, but I can't use that, as I also have a group of 11 cory duplicareus, and I would take no action that would put them in danger. So, in the end I've caught as many as I could adults and fries and "dump" them on some fish store owner friend of mine, that hope to maintain the line, as I'm done with them. Some survived the big netting, babies apear again, so chances are I will do it all again.🧐 I suspect that one might have succes with them, in a species only tank, were one can add salt to it, but I only have space and resources for 2 tanks and they are all community, so no guppies for me, if I can help it (still struggling with the netting "survivors"). 🤓

I was just wondering what the plant is at the bottom of your grow out tank? I got 6 female guppies from my lfs and 2 days later there were 8 babies in the tank with them 😂 I have another community tank so I think my plan is to put the males in there as I was panicking about being overstocked. Although seeing your tank makes me feel better about that 😅

For the plants on the bottom... I unfortunately have no clue what it's called, we ordered some swords and java ferns, and put them in our 55gal a long time ago, not sure if they mutated or there was a small bit of foreign plant on them when we put them in but this thing just randomly began carpeting and spreading across the bottom of my tanks, I put some of it in the guppy grow out as hiding places and it carpeted across the bottom there too, I trim it once it gets too tall.

And yes, my guppy tanks are very overstocked but I offset that with constant water changes and cleaning, as well as getting rid of them as much as I can!

I tried guppies twice and they all died. I don't know why. My tanks are cycled, heated, with plants. It's very upsetting. All my other fish are fine.

What other fish do you have? Guppies can get easily bullied if they're with anything that's even semi-aggressive. If your parameters, heat, everything is good, that's the only thing I can think of... Also, you'd want to have more females then males, or just only males. Males can bully the females if they're outnumbered and stress them out to death.

It was some bacteria in my tank 1 year ago. And all guppies passed away one by one despite all other fish (neons, pleco, barbs) are OK. Now I have lots of guppies and endlers in new small tank.

I've had the same issue buying guppies from local big box and even a small local store. Turns out overbreeding has produced some very poor, weak stock. A sales person agreed with me and said it can be hard to find strong healthy guppies. My solution was to look online and find responsible breeders . Yes, the shipping can be a bit much, but the fish are alive and well. Maybe you can find someone local too.
