I think most people here are trying to compare her collection with Chanel, Gucci, but it is not that fair cause designer Guo obviously has very different purposes in mind for doing this show or her fashion shows. Chanel, Gucci using highest quality fabric cause their fashion shows are for art collectors. Guo Pei is trying to sell her extreme sewing techniques using most difficult fabric materials. I think she got the attention she needs to get high class customers who need individual special orders, her lines and skills are extraordinary, really stand out.

That fabric is so very easily to expose any tiny imperfection or fault in skills and lines, especially with that extremely thin and shining texture.

A very excellent collections of the western designs with Chinese spirits. These western models are all with Chinese figures. Does that mean Guo is trying to extend her costumers to western?

I think I’m this particular instance it’s fair to compare her to European and American designers because the silhouettes are so heavily influenced by western trends. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Guo Pei, but this collection fees very uninspired. The silhouettes are date with no real innovation. She relied on some seemingly random embroidery placements (an admittedly fabulous staple of her designs but in this case they seemed like an afterthought) and moderately interesting fabric (that more often than not clashed with the embroidery) and also used borderline copy and pasted dress shapes from the 50s and 60s. I just don’t think this show was her best work excluding a small handful of pieces.

I just saw 7 seconds of video, that BEAUTIFUL woman of color just killed me with her elegance.

To some this collection may be underwhelming but it is really nice to see her take a step back and show some versatility in regards to overall aesthetic. This also was a collaboration with chopard. So her designs also had to compliment the jewelery without making the entire outfit look tacky or costume. I do believe she could've turned up the volume but this is also a fresh breathe of air for her. I'm positive her next collection will probably have us admiring her for the work she has always been known for. This is coming from an admirer who has known of her work since 2008 and also knows her background. Overall a beautiful collection and truly not disappointed. Loved it 💋

That was unbelievably beautiful, Guo Pei never disappoints! Each piece was so ethereal and beautiful. Guo's work always makes me feel like I'm reading a fairytale. You can see how much work was put into each piece. Some may say this is a bit simple for s Guo pei show, but I think its beautiful. The models did really good as well. I can't imagine walking in heels that tall ever. Bravo overall for the show! This is what haute couture is about!!!!!!

No it’s not. Don’t get me wrong I love Guo Pei but this line is in no way exceptional. There are plenty of designers who put out more innovative work this season.

This collection is certainly more "toned down" and subtle, but the distinct style of details are still very Guo Pei. Still beautifully Chinese-cultural and romantic.

I just discovered her by chance through KZread. I am completely bowled over. Her designs all say something to me, I'm not quite sure I can put my finger on it. I'm transfixed and taken out of my hum-drum life and all the difficulties. For a few moments I am in a fairty tale of beautiful artistic fashion. I would love to know the name of these shiny fabrics. Stunning as usual. The wedding dress at the end, while lovely, paled in comparison to the other creations. So it was extremely anti-climactic.

The first lady was absolutely beautiful

Whilst I appreciate the outstanding artisanal work that has been invested in these garments, the body of the work felt laboured and flat and simply old fashioned. The fabric choices for the majority of the exits looked synthetic and harsh. Some of the silhouettes were elegant with wonderful sleeve detailing and others looked like costume. Eggs shaped panels, pleated over skirts, excessive ruffles... it was not a good look. The obsession that designers have in sending out models in those ridiculous shoes is beyond irritating. The girls just look nervous and stilted. The house clearly wants be more commercially focused and at he end of the day it's in the business of selling clothes, but this seemed the least authentic of recent collections and much more western in delivery.... for me it was a miss.
