Great new thing i learned today. Screw driving bits should bend rather than the stuck screw, doesn’t mean the company makes junk.
You sir are helping the next generation keep this profession alive, thank you so much.

First thing I did to my pristine Ruger Old Model 3-Screw Super Blackhawk revolver in 1978 was try to change the grip frame with a cheap tapered screwdriver, and totally destroyed both grip frame screws. Luckily Ruger sent me replacements, and my next purchase when I could afford it was the Brownell’s fixed blade screwdriver set. I’ve had to regrind a couple that have broken, but they actually provided a Dremel bit to reshape them. Now I always make sure the bit fits the screw perfectly.
I would have never thought having the exact bit would be so imperative! Good grief, I’ve already learned a lot from this series and I am only 3 episodes in! Thank you both for your combined effort in bringing this series to KZread. I am absolutely sure it will be every bit a resource as the books listed in part 2.

Thank you for watching and for the nice complement.
Sir, first apologize my english. But you are sharing gold here. Things that many already know, but still make the same mistake, like use a wrong tool for a job. I work with motorcycles and I try to avoid more problems by using the right tool to the job. If I don't have the tool or can't replicate it in a safe way, I just don't accept the job. Thanks for this series. Best regards from Brasil!

Would love to see a list of things mentioned in the video (Like the brand/model of the screwdriver set, etc.) in the description section. Keep doing some great work! :)

Almost all the screwdrivers used are from Brownells. The Magna tip Superset is hard to beat for quality and provide nearly every bit you will need. It is, or was last time I checked, made in USA and they will replace broken bits. The Walker set is also a good choice. A bit cheaper by being made offshore but a good selection of bits without as good a replacement policy, unless something has changed recently.
you seem like you can fix ANYTHING, so hope you see my Question on pt.1 thanks for your wisdom sir!!
Great vid!

You don't see many Phillips head screws in guns. Why is that? Not pleasing to the eye? Do they turn sharp after too may screw-ins and outs?
I am very interested in early gunsmithing Tools and mashinery. I am looking for colt revolvers siche about 1834 .Paterson, and then Walker ...my goodness! How did they do those guns that time?!
I have the same Stevens in parts. Is it worth learning on it or save it until I get much more experience. Smiths say they will put together but it will not be functional. Ty
is that block made anymore? I see it came with the brownells master tool set, but i cant find it by itself
45 Alfa Charlie Papa What about the Chapman Manufacturing set? Made in USA 🇺🇸

The Chapman set is useful but I have never really liked their driver, I prefer a standard handle but the bits are fine

Paul Mazan Thanks Paul! I’m fixed on that set, I wanted an different opinion and now I’m convinced that it’s worth it.

Hi Alejandro, Tool selection is a personal choice. If you like a certain type of tool and it does the job, it's the right tool for you. Good luck in your gunsmithing projects.
Thank you
