Big dps on Gun boss Rodin is important when the twins' shields pop. You don't want to be popping shields over and over again.
In this video I'm playing support zealot, focusing on clearing mines and buffing everyone with Chorus.

Strangely, this build works BETTER in hardmode because they're aren't any scab/dreg bruisers or shooters in the standard difficulties lol.

You're right, I think in general too, a lot of builds work better on harder difficulties because they get more powerful with higher enemy density

Mk IV rapier, Columnus v infantry autogun, scriers gaze and disrupt destiny . Rapier needs uncanny strike
