Gun Expert REACTS to Rust
Ойындар
Our favorite gun expert, Paul Meixner, is back in another Total Recoil episode, hosted by Green Beret Israel. In this episode, they will be checking out the amazing guns in the game "Rust" and discussing if it's possible to survive using these types of guns. The duo will also share their experiences and discuss what they would do differently. Be sure to watch the video to find out if it's possible to build a homemade gun and if anyone is doing this. Enjoy the video!
Rust is a survival multiplayer game, so there will be other players trying to survive in the same
way that you are. Unfortunately for you they can find you, kill you and take your stuff.
Fortunately for you - you can kill them and take their stuff. Or maybe you can make friends and
help each other survive. Rust’s world is harsh - so you might need to make friends to survive.

Hey! I'm one of the Devs from Rust/Facepunch who made quite a few of these weapons. Just want to say I really enjoyed watching this, and it was really fun hearing from an expert! Motivated me to make our weapons even better and more realistic. Keep up the great work! Subbed

The gun at 7:52 is an Eoka, based on the improvised pistol made by a member of the Cypriot guerilla group EOKA in the 1950s. IRL the gun is a single use muzzle loader which consists of a 20mm casing strapped to a piece of wood; although in game its multiple use. There is one stored at the Royal Armouries archives in Britain.

Fun though, in Rust they don't cause much direct damage, and are used as a sidearm. You'd fight with a crossbow or bow for a while, and after one or two hits, charge at the enemy spraying them with the Nail Gun, because it's innacurate and chip damage, but when the enemy only have 10 or 20 hp left, spray and pray works.

The perspective is weird cause he is shooting it straight up, but the rust nailgun only has a range of +/- 10 meters before hitting the dirt and it takes a full mag of 16 to kill someone wearing leather, its a quick fire weapon but really low damage and range.

you live in bliss-less ignorance, you don't seem to realise how fuckin weird the 40's through to 70's was for weapons tech, there is experimental pythons that where designed to be suppressible, .44 magnum revolvers made to be suppressible, hell there was even a webly mk6 (not 100% on if it was a mk6 but i know for a fact it was a webly) that was made to be suppressed, in fact, if you know where to look, you'll find a lot of revolvers made to be supressed, last i checked there is over 30 known models, including custom made saa and a few real (albeit custom made) black powder navy revolvers (one or two of which where unintentionally supressed as they where intended to diffuse or catch smoke) so in summery, a well engineered revolver can be supressed, and when they are, they are usually better than semi auto pistols as a matter of fact, you can get kits to supress almost any revolver, even .500 magnums (tho that last one is a gimmick and utterly pointless)

@@thunderpunkradio There is also the Quiet Special Purpose Revolver version of the S&W Model 29 which was developed for use by Tunnel Rats in the Vietnam conflict (never officially adopted) and the OTs-38 Stetchkin revolver which is a more modern Russian revolver using the same technology. They both use captive piston cartridges which are quite interesting, they look like a normal necked cartridge on the outside but internally you have a piston between the powder and the bullet so when fired the piston accelerates the bullet but prevents any gas escaping into the barrel. Obviously they're fairly weak (50M range) but they're about as quiet as you can make a firearm with a report about as loud an air pistol.

The Eoka is actually modeled off of a real-deal makeshift firearm crafted by some SAS dude in Vietnam. It's preserved in the Royal Amory in London and IN FACT, their head of firearms preservation did a review exactly like this, laughed, and said "we actually have this gun. This is what they used for this model" and went and got the old boy. The SAS dude used a lighter to fire it as a shotgun tho. Not a piece of flint.

that model displayed in you vid was the supersoaker 100... I had one, bloody thing shot streams over 199 feet when I plugged the valve thing that prevented kids from huntin themselves lol
I built a crossbow that shot tennis balls in 8th grade so yeah they are very easy to make. It was more of a hand held batista tho cause the tension came from lots of layers of paracord twisted then the arms stuck through them
In rust I would describe the weapons as half homemade and half military grade style. Also as you said the nail gun in game is generally used as a very short ranged weapon but the cross bow in game is generally the favorite bow and used up to about 45m (Edit) the ice assault rifle or ak is a skin and for some reason instead of making it a skin model they made it's very own weapon the only difference is visual. Also military grade weapons are normally bought for noc vendors or you can get them from taking over to cargo ship, destroying the attack helicopter, and a Bradley tank with rockets

Brooo I got the 200 as well. And mine broke randomly too.
8:45 I believe the pipe is _meant_ to be a bit of metal tube, and the ammo is basically just rocks and some gunpowder shoved in through the muzzle that a spark from hitting the steel pipe with a rock ignites. A Cypriot militia group actually used this kind of thing, usually made from a 20mm shell casing, as an improvised firearm. 26:20 Looks like some kind of hybrid between a rocket launcher and recoilless rifle maybe? But yeah, would definitely hate to have to lug that thing around with all the *THICC* metal pipe. 30:10 They actually busted tanks in the Winter War with a satchel charge that was basically a potato masher grenade with a box of TNT or whatever attached to it... and I think the Germans had one with just multiple grenade "heads" attached to a single stick.
I can confirm that a framing nailer will shoot a 2.5" nail about 200 feet on 90psi air. If you depress the contact safety while holding down the trigger it does go "full auto."

How exemplary responsible people handle firearms, especially in the country where he comes from (USA), has been demonstrated to us several times in recent years.

the eoka is just a 20mm or a 30mm shell with the neck cut off and tied to a wooden handle. it would be loaded with powder, shot and wadding but the game went the easy route and uses 12ga shells which wouldnt work but it is ok, i guess its a video game doesnt need to be 100% realistic.
