Because the gags are witty, some gags visual, and since it's a kids show the jokes with adult implications are often masked behind tongue-in-cheek situations which forces you to squeeze your brain a bit. Adult shows' humor like Velma or Family Guy is just potty humor but with slurs instead of "poo" or "fart" and random gore for the sake of it, Gumball's humor is much more clever.
