The problem is not just bein informative. Alot of dentist are not sending patient for treatment. They want to bill for extraction but not try to prevent the main problem. Basic cleanings dont mean anything if u kep having bone lost. i had braces for 5 years. i have had this problem since i was 14 with braces my ortho didnt say anything. but now as an adult im losing teeth. Alot of people just play dentist but actually want u to keep losing teeth so they keep billing you for different stuff. Dentures implants vaneers. wht they are doing if wrong, Its only getting worst. i have to keep looking for away to fix this problem. I have had 2 many opinions. no one wants to send you to perio early if they know you NEED it. Smh. Its a BUSSINESS first

Yeah I went to the periodontist and he wants $10,000 to do the LANAP LASER on my gums which it kind of freaks me out cuz it doesn’t look too fun to do plus that’s A LOT OF MONEY, that I don’t have so I had to get approved for CARE CREDIT but not sure if I can afford the payments.! Just wondering if I should get a second opinion but my teeth are rotting and gums inflamed from my leaky gut! It’s so hard trying to find a Dr from all fields of medicine that truly cares and wants to help you!!!! Not kill you!!!

@@buckie48192 it's like being a mouse, and the health professional are all cats 😁 I can't understand that. The LANAP is just shooting a laser around the base of your teeth. It should only take about 20-30 minutes. How can it be $10,000? Have you tried rinsing your mouth with oil everyday?

@@chadkline4268 I do oil pulling but not regularly which is bad on my part. Okay it costs $9,985.00 to be exact. Dr Nemeth, He’s a periodontist in Southfield Michigan. He has video’s on YT that’s how I found him. And the procedure from what they told me takes about 3 hours but that is probably including them cleaning or scraping my teeth before the procedure and they will give me an IV to sedate me. I don’t want to do it, but not sure there is hope for something else. My gums are swelling up in different places and the gums are filling in some of the gaps between my teeth and I have cavities at the base of quite a few teeth and it’s shocking to see how rapidly they are decaying and couldn’t figure out why but then watching video’s I found that leaky gut can do this. I first got diagnosed w/leaky gut about 7 yrs ago. I think it went away in about a year but not positive cause here I am with it again but I was fine for yrs until about a year and a half ago. And when you don’t have much money it’s hard to find help.

I wish I would have come across this video a couple years ago, when I was first told I had gum disease and needed deep cleanings. I assumed I was being sold something I didn't need having no pain, nothing visible wrong to me, not knowing anything about it, or about what I'm looking at on X-rays, or what those numbers mean when they stick you.. No one even attempted to explain this. It got worse. This video is very educational and easy for regular people to understand. Everyone who is told they have gum disease should watch it.

It is sinful how little most dentist inform you, how little they empower you, they don't care at all, "come back in 3 to 6 months and we will do another cleaning" so sad, I pray for them, I hope their souls wake up and they gain empathy and start helping people like this man

I was just diagnosed with early stage periodontitis (mostly 4s and 3s with a few 5s and 2s) and I was slightly surprised because I see very little tartar above my gums besides a couple trouble areas. This is truly a lesson that there's always more hiding under the surface, literally and figuratively. But then again I have only been to the dentist a few times in my life, last time being over 10 years ago. I've also suffered from chronic depression for a good portion of my life which of course affects various forms of hygiene. But I have improved all of my hygiene habits over the past 5-7 years and even lost over 100 lbs. But I know that that is no substitute for proper dental visits and cleanings. I also have always had a hard time flossing because my teeth are extremely tight against each other. It hurts my fingers more than anything and those floss picks DO NOT fit between my teeth and I've tried them all. If they do they're shredded after two teeth.) It has actually gotten easier over the past year and I'm realizing that's a bad sign. Lol. Over the next month and a half (every Wednesday-- my only day off) I'm having a deep cleaning (2 appts because that's what my insurance requires) about half a dozen fillings (2 appts), 5 teeth extracted (all 4 wisdom teeth plus a broken/rotted molar in front of one of the wisdom teeth). Also TBD either a crown or root canal on another molar with advanced cavity. It's going to cost me almost $4k but I was approved for $3k on CareCredit. It's gonna be tough paying it off but I'm pretty confident that I was properly diagnosed and given a good treatment plan. I actually ENJOY going to the dentist but it's just so expensive and easy to put off. But I know I'm investing in my overall health and I'm honestly lucky I'm not worse off.

I went to a dentist and she told me I needed intensive deep cleaning in x3 sessions and I had mild bone loss. I was not convinced and went somewhere else and they said my teeth were fine no bone loss but had to get a one session deep clean as I did have bleeding gums and need to get the cleaning under control control and they would check it in 3 months time. My teeth are now fine as all I need to do is brush properly and floss. So glad I got a second opinion. Great video.

I had two experiences. I went a chain dental office that sees many Medicare/Medicaid patients because had a dental HMO and no one else would take it. They did the exam and didn't clean my teeth and said I needed a full mouth scaling for over $300 and wanted to charge me $50 for the rinse that is $5 at the Walmart pharmacy! I always got cleanings twice a year. I went to another dentist and I just had one pocket that needed deep cleaning and that was done. Later this new dentist diagnosed me with periodontal disease but didn't tell me. I had on side done (didn't know I needed both sides done). When I went to get my prophy I was told had to get deep cleanings with numbing before I could get my prophy. Since the diagnosis was listed and there m was no go around. The deep cleaning never happened for over a year because my BP was always too high because of how they were treating me. I switched dentists again (when I switched to a dental PPO) and they recommended 2 extra cleanings a year which don't cost that much. I love my new dentist and they tell me what is going on before they record a diagnosis or suggest a procedure.

I've been waiting for a video from you on this subject because I was diagnosed with gum disease in August and was shocked to hear that because I have excellent home care ( Brush 2x a day for at least 2 minutes each time, floss 1x a day, use a water pik, and at night I use 2 different types of toothbrushes to ensure that I get my teeth clean and yes I change my toothbrush or toothbrush head every 3 months). I have kept every 6 month appointment for the past 30 years. I have had a handful of cavities in the past 56 years and did not have my first cavity until I was 29 years old. Because I take such good care of my teeth, I could not understand how I could have gotten gum disease. I was told that 50% of patients diagnosed with gum disease is genetic. So, for some of us, it doesn't matter how well we take care of our teeth we are genetically predisposed to get gum disease. I didn't have any bleeding, pain, nor were my gums inflamed. I did get a second opinion and even a third opinion before proceeding. I am glad I did because what you just explained has helped me reaffirm my decision as to how to get this treated.

Also now that I understand that bone loss is about the bone between the roots, not the roots themselves, I'm realizing what's behind 2 comments I heard this week: a friend saying that her lower jaw is shrinking, forcing her teeth to crowd, which she observed, just happens with age. And my hygienist saying that with time, our teeth tend to move to the front (and crowd). In both cases, I now can see how bone loss would lead to these outcomes. So dangerous to let gum inflammation go unchecked as the underlying bone is apparently dissolving.

Great video, thank you! However, who truly knows if you are not a dentist? Patients are at the mercy of the dentist conducting the exam, For the most part? Again, great information!

Much obliged. I appreciate the Ethics you are using. I feel like I would like to help back in kind. I think if you get the book, "Basic Study Manual" and use it in daily life, it might create a huge difference in your life. I do not work for the book company or have any personal interests.. But it is a well-kept secret and I recommend it to people that are ethical and out to help the world. Again, I appreciate your help and ethics. Continue with your great lectures.

Great video. I wish I were in your area so that I could see you immediately. I'm currently in that situation where I'm scheduled for deep cleaning but now not sure if it's really needed so I need to call the office back and explain all of that drama. Not looking forward to that. Do you by chance know any colleague periodontist in the Detroit area that you can refer me to? It's getting harder and harder to find ethical providers in any profession. Again anyway you could give me in the Detroit area would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for this video, I've not heard of osseous surgery in fact my dentist just wants to rip out all my teeth and the periodontist is saying the same but just for the top. I can still eat normally with no pain, bleeding, or wobbly teeth (one does have a slight wobble but is tightening up since using a water pik), and having just googled the osseous surgery procedure it is available here in Australia so I'm perplexed as to why this has not been suggested to me as a possibility before something more drastic (and more costly for the number of teeth I will need to be extracted when compared to the pricing per quadrant). I can even pinpoint when the upper periodontal issue started back quite a few years ago from a poorly done root canal that ended with me having an abscess that a doctor only prescribed panadeine forte for and not, as you would expect a script for antibiotics to clear the infection. This resulted in my having this abscess for over 48 hours over that weekend until I could get to my dentist at the time and get a script for the much-needed antibiotic. ...

Try Dr elli Philips system and xilytol mints it’s on KZread and she sells zellies and all necessary for gum disease. it’s a ritual but works! my dentist doesn’t want to give me any antibiotics only after surgery but I refuse it all than and stick to Ellie’s system 😜

I've been suffering with feeling sick-ish, system wide, like sinuses to gut, not a flu but feeling kind of yucky with mildly infamed sore throat, for at least 6-9 months.. Going in for sore throat, my dr suggested oral antibiotics but without a clear dagnosis and fear of disrupting my not-great gut, i declined. He directed me to swish with salt water 4xday. I just had a teeth cleaning (gums are mostly at 4's with a couple 3's and 5's) and am flossing regularly for 1st time. I'm realizing now my system wide yuckyness may be coming from my inflamed, infected gums. I'm going to look into LANAR. I hope it's not too late to reverse my overall health.

I recently found your videos as I have been recommended to see a periodontist due to a loose tooth. I have a suspected vertical fracture on a molar and my margin was a 5. I was devastated as I did not feel I would ever be visiting a periodontist. But, your videos help me to know your scopes of work are not always so scary. I do wish that you were in my area. I currently have an appointment but have been waiting over a month and have a few more weeks to go before my appointment. My tooth is shifting and just went for my regular cleaning and now my dentist says the margin is 9 on that tooth. It has changed in a short amount of time. Would you have any recommendations for periodontists in Orlando, FL? I have been doing my own search to find another periodontist that might be able to see me sooner, but really it's like throwing a dart at a dartboard.

Yeah I got my dad’s genes I suppose he had all his teeth pulled when he was in his early forties. But I also have had leaky gut 7 yrs ago and maybe it never truly healed as I have it now and my teeth are rapidly deteriorating sadly! I have deep deep pockets and scared of what it will take to save teeth or whatever. I’m going for appt for Perio to tell me what his plans are and I bet it will be so costly for lanap that I doubt I can afford it 😢

if its become an eating and esthetic issue and you also lost all that bone, you may need to look at a denture or implant denture option, etc.

Thank you very much for this video, Dr. I wish I could have seen this video before i go to the dentist. Most dentist here always ask if like to do extraction other than through explanation. They shall explain the conditions and the options to the patient and shall followed by the the recommendation depend on the stage and also shall it be tooth extraction is at last if real necessary. But, now. extraction is done and later will need to implant again. Without implant, what will happen again please?

I didn't let him do anything to my wife cuz I did not trust them. I also have been listening to Dr Ellie Phillips seems to make a lot of sense along with you. She talks a lot acidity level can a person's mouth. Also she talks alot about xylitol.

Periodontal disease is an inherited response to the soft plaque and toxins deep along the root surfaces of the teeth. **Even with great home care** deep pockets develop and are difficult to reach and require different treatment than a 6 mos prophy. In conjunction with Periodontal Therapy, hygienists offer nutritional counseling and oral hygiene instruction. Periodontal disease is common in those suffering from other autoimmune diseases. But keep up the good work at home! You can slow the process and keep your teeth (and whole body) healthy from this chronic inflammatory disease. We don’t scam you- We went into health because we care about people. ❤
