Two years late but the actor playing Gulliver was filmed and was traced/animated over, giving him an almost out of place look and highlighting the uncanny-valley factor

Yay! More Animation Pilgrimage...I don't remember all of your rules for reviewing these films, but I have a few recommendations... 1. The Animals of Farthing Wood 2. Watership Down 3. The Plague Dogs All of them are sort of darker shows/films, and I figured that since you've already done Felidae, I might as well recommend these.

Based on what I remembered, she is doing all theater release movies, with some exceptions. This includes movies from around the world.

I love these videos so much. It's so helpful for me, who really wants to learn about animation and older animated movies that I might've not seen.

I actually had this movie as a kid. I ended up owning a lot of obscure cartoons when I was little, especially ones from the Fleischer Bros (since my great-grandmother was a big fan of their cartoons). I really only remembered the character designs and a few scenes, as well as Gulliver's "animation" scaring me.

Hmmm you know I just discovered you guys because I have this on VHS & love the movie to this day... I love the Idea that you guys are watching the movie & commentary on it. The only thing I think this Lacks is when it comes to a movie that your watching, you should know the information about the movie & the voice actors. I hope this goes somewhere, like becomes popular on KZread because there needs to be more of this on KZread. If this does get big, I have a List of cartoon movies that you guys should talk about. One of them should be Pinocchio & the emperor of the night. You guys should see this movie because the cast is very interesting.

For the few of us who did watch this film. Aaaaaallls WELLL! My gramma had this movie waaaaay back when in like 93 on tape. watched it with my sister up until her passing. Dunno who got the movie after that but I hadn't seen this in like 20 years. Even when I was a kid I thought Gulliver himself was so strange and stood out horribly. I could tell they just traced over a person and it was indeed unsettling. God if I knew the plot I hardly paid attention because of how weird Gulliver was. This was just kinda on in the background while we played with toys.

Hi, Tennelle! I love your podcast. I'm still not done listening, but I do know how to answer the origins of Spongebob's voice (discussion starting at 7:18). Tom Kenny based Spongebob's voice off of an actor who he witnessed auditioning as an elf for a Christmas commericial. Source: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKh1saZyZrW-gKg.html I don't know if this got answered later in the podcast because I'm still watching but I thought I should throw it out there just in case. c:

My my! Just found this channel and I've been enjoying it. I'm a big Fleischer fan but i will admit that Gulliver's Travels is not great. It does suffer from MAJOR pacing issues, even moreso than Snow White (which of course is the superior film). You had some good insight and I did not know about the pencil test controversy in the 30's. Interesting! PS Pinto Colvig not only voiced gabby goofy and sleepy, he was also Grumpy!

I will say this, not at all surprised that you cannot appreciate this film. Most modern audiences can't. Unless you grew up with it, you can't look at it with the same feelings as I and over 800 others have, it happens to be amongst my favorite animated films of all time, in fact it is #1. I am not alone in my feelings either as my Facebook page for the film, that I built, has accumulated nearly 800 likes, which may not seem like much, but keep in mind I am not a Facebook sponsored page. I am not going to say this film is without flaws, but I will say I enjoy it on every viewing I get. True, the character development may not be strong, but the animation and over all jovial feeling of the film makes up for that. I think it is unfair to throw the Fleischers under the bus, Max wanted to make a feature as early as 1934, but Paramount balked at the idea. It was a rushed production, which is a big detriment to the film, but I think you exaggerated your frustrations with the film for the sole purpose of making a humourous KZread video to get views. This is why people are not interested in preserving this forgotten history. Paramount won't touch any of the Fleischer or Famous Studios cartoons as people like yourselves have deemed them inferior product, when in fact they are very enjoyable on their own merits, Too many times, these films are compared with Disney, which I don't think is a good idea, Disney is Disney, Fleischer was Fleischer. It wasn't Disney who killed Fleischer in the end, it was Dave Fleischer and Paramount who did that. Gulliver may not be "Snow White", but I love the film and favor it over mainstream Disney product. It is a good film to show the kids, with very little violence and no offensive humour which is used ad nauseum in animated films today. This comment was not meant as an insult to you, as I don't wish to insult those whom I do not know, this film is a nostalgic favorite of mine and it hurts to hear people bash it and destroy it as you have done here.

@TennelleFlowers (and her husband) there are some cartoons I sujest, there movies , there old as far as I could tell but not so back then it's probably about 20 years old-k?: Riki Tiki Tavi (the book came out in 1890s) The White Seal (1975) and there are more movies but I think the directer of all of them is Chuck Jones (I did my research) I loved these movies and now that I bring them up Imma gonna watch em again! I sure hope you watch em, I think it would be good episode talk! These movies are just a bit younger than the movies you've watched buuuuuut they sure don't seem like it and the plus side why you should watch them is that THERE. SO. GOOD. (I looked at your document by the way, I'll go check em out!)

Let's make an animated feature with a great studio and with that feature let's not show off *any* of the strengths of that studio. It's no secret that the subject matter never spoke to the Fleischers, the film was pretty much forced on them (but they got a state of the art Florida studio to make it) and, aside from the great Superman shorts (far better than this) which were to come, really the Flesichers' best work was before the censorship of the Production Code anyway. And not long after Paramount basically steals the studio and turns it into the horrible Famous Studio

By the way Watership down isn't as bad as Felidae or the Plague dogs, (the plage dogs are so sad, it feels likes it's going forever, there are no happy moments, there's signs of animal torture, murder, gunfire sooo yep) it is not fun to watch
