Gulfstream Avionics Failure Into Las Vegas! - Pilot VLOG 42

We went back to Las Vegas for a few days, and had an avionics failure on the descent. We had a chance to go hiking in the desert, but only after watching the fighter jet drills at Nellis Air Force Base, including F-16s and F-35s.

Finally had a chance to watch this one. The King Air 200 I flew didn't have a true glass cockpit, but I recall the "steam gauges" would sometimes stick. Got to be a habit to just tap the gauge face to unstick the needle. The altimeter had a vibrator to keep the needle free. Valley of Fire is awesome. I have friends in Mesquite, another great ride is taking an ATV over the Scanlon Ferry Road. You go from Gold Butte all the way to Lake Mead. A very fun ride in a Polaris Rzr. Can't go wrong with Moab either. Keep up the good work, I realize you have a busy career and family life, so the fact you're taking the time to crank out such professional videos is amazing.

I go to NASCAR every year in Vegas and they do the same thing for the weekend. I think it's called Red Flag but I could be wrong. At night is the best because you can see the afterburners glow. Being woken up by jets rumbling my motorhome isn't a bad alarm clock either. hahah Good to see the channel growing. keep the vids coming! time lapse i think are good ways to add easy content and always look cool. especially in the air. thanks man

I liked that center inset outside view of the landing. When you do switch to the wing view, I think it'd still be more interesting to have the inset shot of the controls remain....but maybe you've already tried it. I would specifically try to keep the inset on the same position in the screen tho. So for example, if you have a landing with the initial view of main at the controls, inset of outside view positioned top left corner....when you switch to wing view, keep that control inset on the top left of the screen so our eyes won't need to shift so much. Thanks again for sharing!

Hey guys - just came across the channel and it's quite a shift from single engine VFR flight that I do. I could only dream of the day that I'd be flying a GS4. Thou that may never happen do to other issues, I truly enjoy the flights your making. I'm in the process of getting a Goovis G2 to watch your flights on an IMax screen. I guess it's the best way to view it without actually being there. Thanks again and I look forward to many more flights.

Love your videos, I think I subscribed after a couple minutes of the first video I saw. I'll probably never fly in a Gulfstream, sure looks interesting though! I'm a contractor working for a well known company that leases a couple Gulfstream jets for corporate use. Too bad I didn't have the money and interest in flying long ago, too old now, but I sure enjoy watching professionals showing us desk and computer jockies how to fly a plane and teaching us some technical aspects along the way. Thanks CPL!

Earl, unless you have one foot in the grave, you're never too old to learn to fly. Okay, you may not be an airline pilot, or a corporate pilot, but you can still fly for yourself. Nothing like a $150 hamburger in a Cessna 172 for you and the wife and a couple of kids. Don't sell yourself short, if you have the money, you can make the time to do it, and you won't regret it.

Haven't flown as PIC in about 40 years, but I enjoy watching so many different and fascinating aviation vlogs, so I don't mind subscribing to yours as well. Depending on WHEN you were in Vegas, it's very probable that you saw Red Flag 18.1 at Nellis, which is the annual Air Force combat training evolution. It started on 1.23.18
