    If India really had Gukesh's best interests they wouldn't want it to happen in India as well. When you're on home ground there's a lot of pressure to perform. Carlsen refused to play in Norway against Nepo and the stress got to Anand in Chennai.

    @@adityakumarrawat9576 yeah. It will mostly be done by a government or a government entity, coz fide is asking a whopping 75 cr for 1 single match. That's tough to monetize for private players, though not impossible.

    I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to this but shouldn’t it be held in a “neutral” country? Because it seems a bit unfair to have such a big event occur on the home field. But then again I don’t know anything when it comes to this.

  • @AjinkyaK01

    @AjinkyaK01

    Lol it's chess not cricket, why would it be unfair if the event occurs in India? It's played on the same chess board inside a closed room, so the venue doesn't make any difference 😅

  • @luiscarlocerdagarnica

  • @AdmiralRamenNoodles

    @@AjinkyaK01 that’s a fair point. I guess my only concern is the pressure both players may face. After all Gukesh has the entire weight of India not only behind him but also on him during the match. And Liren might feel out of place. I just think it’d be better for both players to be in a country of “neutral” standing psychological speaking. Maybe Kazakhstan again or maybe the US can get some love and host in St. Louis or something. That’s just my two cents though and you raise a very valid point. Guess it’s just up to FIDE and the bidding.

    Actually it can be disadvantage too due to home pressure. Vishy Anand said he had felt lot of pressure in 2013 Chennai world championship which he lost. Even Magnus said he won’t play world championship in Norway.
