Guitarist SENT ICONIC Singer To the ER When He SLICED His CROTCH in BOTCHED Prank!-Professor of Rock

Ойын-сауық

This the craziest rock and roll story you’ll ever hear….“In 1979, Eagles Hall of Fame guitarist Joe Walsh, announced he was running for President of the United States, with a campaign promise of "free gas for everyone” if he won. His antics became world famous,,, He actually tried to circumcise Eagles singer Don Henley when he was drunk, He Drove a Lincoln town into a hotel swimming pool But, that’s nothing he caused 100s of thousands of dollars of damage when he took a chainsaw to another hotel room and we have the theme song for his failed campaign, "Life’s Been Good” a 70s rock classic which was the autobiography of his legendary hedonism. The crazy story is coming up NEXT on Professor of Rock.

There was a time when Joe Walsh flirted with disaster so many times and wound up smelling like a rose, he was convinced he was invincible. He could just keep the party going as long as he wanted to, and had the power to stop any time he wanted to. In ’77 he decided to put it all on paper and write a satirical song about his shenanigans & the spoils of fame.
Joe’s titled his autobiography “Life’s Been Good.” In “Life’s Been Good”, Joe let us into the private life of a flippant rock star. Sure he liked having nice things, but he was really only in it for a good time. Joe told us about a mansion that he had, but he forgot the price. He was singing about the mansion he bought in Santa Barbara, California, just after he joined the Eagles in ’76.
Because of two solid years of touring and recording all over the country since he bought the palace…Joe was never there: He didn’t have a Maserati when he wrote the song, as he claimed in the lyrics, but following the success of “Life’s Been Good,” Walsh bought one so he wouldn’t disappoint his fans.
Although... he never pushed the speed to “185" as the song goes… Joe said he chickened out at 145 miles per hour. Joe once lost his wallet, and his driver’s license was inside the wallet. He often rode in limos and indulged in the back. Joe had an office with gold records on the wall, and an old-school answering machine that was constantly full of unreturned messages.
Everyone that ever went to a party with Joe Walsh knew that they were in for a long night, and along those lines, there was another humorous bit of non-fiction in the lyric- “ I go to parties sometimes until 4, it’s hard to leave when you can’t find the door: At one soiree, Walsh attempted to leave at a respectable hour, but was so obliterated, he entered a walk-in closet mistaking it for the front door to exit the party. Another true Joe Walsh confession is found in verse 1, where Joe states, matter of factly.
I live in hotels, tear out the walls, I have accountants pay for it all.
Walsh learned Hotel Room Demolition 101 from rock n’ roll’s master

Joe’s first born daughter Emma was killed in a car crash way back in 1974. Emma was not quite 3 years old. Joe wrote “Song For Emma” in tribute to his daughter. It’s the final track on his album “So What”. So Joe also bears the sorrow of the death of his child. Emma Kristen (1971 - 1974) RIP.

Can you really put into words the legendary mystical Joe Walsh? He's a guitar ICON. He's a legendary "bad boy of rock-n-roll" on par with Keith Richards for drugs and booze, and second only to Moon the Loon for his wild life offstage. All that said, Joe Walsh is a man with a ginormous heart who has established a non-profit organization that supports veterans and their families. I once saw an interview with him where he talked about losing his father when he was very young. Joe said he wanted to do something that would make his dad proud. I think he's done that and much, much more!!! Keep rockin'!

Oh boy Adam, Joe Walsh, are you kidding, Well here goes, Joe appeared at one of Eric Clapton's "Guitar Festivals". When he introduced "Life's Been Good" He said; "If I had known that I would have to play this tune for the rest of my life, I would have written something else" Me personally. One night in the winter of 1970-71, I was sitting in a tavern in Strongsville, Ohio (just south of Cleveland) called "The Jail". I was sipping a brewsky and listening to a 3 piece band, which I had never seen or heard before. It was a slow night (it was cold and raining) and the band was just smoking the place. They finished a tune, the guitar player walked over to his amp, took a sip of a beverage, walked up to the mic and said these words; "Oh, by the way, tonight is the last night we are playing here, because tomorrow we are flying out to LA (he might have said California) to record our first album, called "The James Gang". I saw Joe Walsh play his last bar gig, and have been a life long fan, ever since. I wonder if anyone else, there that night, remember what happened there? Although Joe is not a "native" of Cleveland, or Ohio, He is considered one, because he lived there, was on the campus, on Kent State Day, and brought a good deal of notoriety to Cleveland's rock music scene. My favorite tune? Life's been good, no, Rocky Mountain Way, no again. "Turn to Stone" is my favorite, it just makes me feel good when I hear it. Ya Joe got his life straightened out. He now does a lot for advocating for drug use recovery and encouraging young folks to play music. You can't be bad if you do that. After all, "Life's been good to me so far". ;-)

The guitar riff that kicks off the song is painfully underrated. Instantly recognizable, yet nobody talks about it in the same way as some of Walsh's riffs in James Gang and The Eagles, or even solo songs such as Rocky Mountain Way. I could listen to Life's Been Good on a repeating, nonstop loop for a week and still find it as enjoyable as when I heard it the first time around.

He never had to worry about it just coming off as bragging or arrogance because it had such a cheeky humbleness to it. I've got a great car but I don't even drive it. I've got a mansion but I don't even live there. He's not bragging because he acknowledges that it doesn't mean all that much. He hasn't changed from the down to earth guy he was, at least in the story, and he's got nothing to complain about but he still has the normal complaints of every person. He's essentially saying I'm lucky but I'm still just like everybody else. There's a certain humbleness that comes through that makes it so fun.

Drummer Joe Vitale's last name is pronounced with three syllables: It's "Vi-tal-ee" - Joe's an ordinary average Italian guy and one of the greatest drummers in rock. He's so good when he subbed for Henley with his ailing back issues during the Eagle's tours after Joe Walsh joined the band, he was constantly inserting all these world class drummer dynamics and spicey fills that Henley was always telling him, "Don't do that!"

Joe is a character for sure. I have never met him, but I have seen him online several times on Bob Heil's online ham radio broadcast Ham Nation. Joe actually wrote the theme song for Ham Nation. It contains the word HAM spelled out in Morse code! He and Bob - who very recently passed away at age 83 - were great friends and both ham radio operators. They knew each other from the days when Bob worked as the sound guy for the Eagles on the road. The whole thing is such a funny paradox because Bob was pure as the driven snow. he NEVER drank once in his life, and of course never used drugs. But when they were on the road the band made sure Bob had as much Dr Pepper as he wanted. Through ham radio, I knew Bob for the last few years of is life. He was a such gem and has so much to do with the development of "Rock and Roll sound." His company Heil Sound is in the Hall of Fame, and he and Joe Walsh remained friends through all the years. Thanks for this story and a great song. Even when Joe was out of control, he could be honest and satirize his situation. I'm really glad he turned it around and kept on rockin.

You finally did it! You made this video of my favorite rocker. I was 17 when this song came out and worked my summers at a secluded scout summer camp and this song was on repeat at our camp staff housing site. Have seen Joe in the early 80's as he was the first act to play at the brand new "Irvine Meadows Ampitheater " in Irvine Ca. and he cut the ceremonial ribbon with.......you guessed it, his chain saw. Saw him again a few years ago at the LA Forum, his voice is gone but man can he still play the guitar!!!! He's a very modest and humble man, and not afraid to let his fans know how he appreciates us, That without us, there is no him. Thank you, Adam, for doing this video on the "Ordinary Average Guy"

In '94 when I was in college at The Ohio State Universitiy, I had the privlage to work as a stage hand for the new opened Polaris Ampithetre in Columbus. This was the top concert that I got to work on and enjoy watching. My memory is during the load in, was working with a hungover british roadie who was up on a truss sweating on me as I was trying to help him hang the scenery in the background of the stage. Joe had goofy stuff on the James Gang's "Yer Album." There was studio chatter between Joe and Bill...Bill: "Joe, you've got to be careful of 'squeaking in your sleeve noise." I think it was on "Rides Again" where in the run-out groove you can hear Joe say "Turn Me Over," and at the end of side 2, he says "Play Me Again" repeatedly. For some reason, I didn't like 'Life's Been Good" for many years. But I guess growing older changed it. I now sing along with it! Joe is one of my guitar heroes.
