Guitarist Jen Trani Explores the Paramount Series | Fender

Музыка

The Fender Paramount Series is for the passionate player who pursues creative self-expression and needs a trusted musical companion that won’t let them down. Those who dream of it, those who live for it - the player who has no choice but to create.
In this video, guitarist and instructor Jen Trani plays all three Paramount models - the PM-1 Dreadnought, the PM-2 Parlor and the PM-3 Triple-0 - and talks about her favorite features.
"They’ve got it now. I think they’ve really, really worked hard at understanding what we need as players," Trani said of Fender and the Paramount Series.

In my opinion, the dreadnaught is the best sounding of these Paramounts. I have played it numerous times at Guitar Center and I continue to be impressed with how good it sounds. Very even between the low end, mid and highs. Fit and finish is just about perfect and the action and playability is great. Don't be too consumed with how they sound in this demo video. It looks like they are primarily using the plugged in sound and blending that with the mic in the room. Not sure any acoustic guitar with a piezo sounds "great" plugged in. When playing the other two models, I felt that the Parlor version sounded a bit boxy and the Triple-0 was just okay.

If you haven't played one in person, you should not judge from this video. This guitar is amazing. I played the PM1 Deluxe at Guitar Center and would trade my Taylor in a heart beat! It sounds amazing and the Fishman electronics are phenomenal! Better tone than the Taylor 100, 200, and 300 series! I never liked Fender acoustic guitars until the Paramount, but now I'm sold!

+WakingCobain in the case of the Paramount series, Fender has had the poly applied so heavy/thick and this why the guitars sound so dead.

I agree with the comment that the recording is probably to blame. And acoustic/electrics, in my opinion, basically NEVER sound good - the Triple-O, in particular, you can hear really over-relying on its preamp. Blech lol The line, overall, tho, is WAY overdue. I'm a huge Fender electric fanatic, and it's been embarrassing for far too long that their acoustics have been so terrible. Definitely a few strides in the right direction!

yobhsiFehT I disagree that Fender has had bad acoustics. I have a 1987 F-260s that still sounds amazing and plays really well. The neck is perfect on it. I played a PM-1 deluxe and it is right there. Same materials spruce top, rosewood back and sides. They could have done better with the bridge, saddle, and tuners, though. I bought a DG-20 in the late 90's that sounds like a toy next to it.

I don't doubt your assessment of your '87 acoustic, but 25ish years is still, to me, far too long for them to go making bad ones ;) lol

I was absolutely shocked when I bought my Fender Paramount PM-1. I made the mistake of playing through an amplfier when trying it out. I bought it, took it home and when I played it in my bedroom I was amazed to find that a guitar made of cardboard would have sounded better. This is the CHEAPEST $800.00 guitar I have ever heard. They claim it was all Mahogany, I would bet it was Nato Mahogany, the cheapest there is. My impression of this guitar is that it is great looking, and I do admit it played very well. It just did not have any depth to the sound. A guitar 1/3 less of the cost of a Paramount would sound 10 times as good. Buy the Martin DRS2, it is actually worth the money.

Yep... they sound horrible. I know tone is subjective. What shocked me (due to the fact that it's 2016) is the insanely thick poly clear all over guitar. This is why they sound dead.
