Larkin Poe is an American roots blues rock band from Nashville, TN. In 2010, the Lovell sisters created this band named after their 5th great grandfather, Larkin Haskew Poe, a distant cousin of Edgar Allen Poe. They are independent recording artists with their own label. To date they have produced 4 EPs, 8 albums with another awaiting release later this year, plus 2-3 collaboration projects. Rebecca plays guitars, mandolin, digital programming and lead vocals. Her older sister Megan plays lap steel slide, dobro and backup vocals. Their 2018 album Venom and Faith was nominated for a Grammy. Their collection of songs is very large containing originals and covers. Currently, they are on a European tour for the next couple of months. Both are married to very talented guitarists in their own right. #FeedMyLarkinPoeHunger! Cheers!

Haunting song that always brings me to tears. A unique performance from early days. They shred blues rock, so check out Preachin' Man Blues.

Just looked it up, Larkin Poe was their great, great, great-grandfather, who was a cousin to Edgar Allan Poe...from an interview with Loud Wire.

I told you, you would love them. And YES, the are sisters and YES they are relatives to Edgar Allen Poe. This is one of the few bands I ordered a vinyl (Larkin Poe & Nu Deco Ensemble-Paint The Roses - received it last week). Other bands are The Warning (signed vinyls :-) and Lovebites. I never play these records, I simply like the haptic and this is my way to support underrated artists. You can‘t go wrong with these ladies but I would suggest „Bleach Blonde Bottle Blues“ to discover their southern blues side.

Thank you so much. I thought you would like their music. Background information on them. I discovered them through Avi Kaplan when he first moved to Nashville and added pedal steel (a variation of the lap steel/slide guitar Larkin Poe uses) to his music. Sisters from the American state of Georgia now living in Nashville, currently touring Europe. Originally 3 Rebecca (lead vocals here) Megan slide guitar and Jessica violin and lead vocals touring as the Lovell Sisters. All three Lovell sisters took violin and piano lessons starting very young, and were in church choir, string quartets and youth symphony orchestra. At 15, Rebecca became the youngest person (and first female musician) ever to take first place in the MerleFest International Mandolin Competition. 10 years ago Jessica quit to get married and go to college. The 2 remaining sisters switched to blues rock and Rebecca picked up guitar. They normally have drums and bass backing them. After a discussion, (because neither one was as interested in vocals as their instruments) Rebecca became lead singer. Their original song "Bleached Blonde Bottle Blues" was written when Megan died her hair. Their most recent album was done with the Nu Deco Ensemble performing some of their original music. There are live performances of those for example "She's A Self-Made Man" kzread.info/dash/bejne/en6su7OwlrvZc5c.html They produce their own music so copyright should not be as big a problem as with artists with major labels. They also have informally done many covers.

You asked about the repeating lyrics at the end. Off with her head, paint the roses red, and the mad hatter are all references to Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.

These ladies are amazing. It's funny now that pretty much all my favorite bands are female or female fronted, like Larkin Poe, The Warning (three sisters from Mexico), Dea Matrona (formerly a trio with a pair of sisters and their best friend from Northern Ireland - for the time being a duo as they are using a couple different drummers for the live shows), The Ally Venable Band (a Texas blues rock singer guitarist) and When Rivers Meet (a husband and wife led blues band from England). Growing up there were only a few female rock singers and bands like Heart, Pat Benatar, The Pretenders etc.

I agree with you and like to add some more female/female fronted bands: Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Voice of Baceprot, Halestorm, Whiskey Dust, The Pretty Reckless and so on, and so on.....

Larkin Poe is really really really good! I listen to Diana Ankudinova every day. I listen to Larkin Poe almost every day. They have a very strong repertoire, dozens of outstanding songs. I have two or three Larkin Poe playlists. What they are mainly known for is their old-school blues. If you haven't heard these girls playing the blues, then you haven't really heard Larkin Poe yet.

Yes, these sister's are absolutely amazing. Their catalog of music available here on KZread is quite extensive. As they are a duo in a full band format, a lot of their musical gems come straight from the two of them alone, performing their own songs, as well as a mind-boggling collection of covers, ranging from Traditional Blues, to R&B, to Heavy Metal!! They do it all!! And they love it all. I'm sure others will point you towards some specific songs. I have a collection of Video Playlists. First, their "Porch Pickin' Series" This is a fantastic place to start because, it let's you straight into who they are and their vibe, along with just the two of them playing songs and talking. Here's the Link: kzread.info/head/PLAOGal7pIOOhDXvgw3eykFCPkYiSDNNOH Here's a playlist of their Albums: kzread.info/head/PLmKjfOsIdKe40PooZj98BjN3NtEsg2XvC Here's a playlist of their Electric blues, Americana, Rock and Hard Rock covers: kzread.info/head/PLAOGal7pIOOhPabkFJLvmmPKmavpX0sJG Here's a playlist of their Acoustic Covers: kzread.info/head/PLAOGal7pIOOikfwWqMSNGP8DWeI_xeX3h Please check these out!!! This is a great song, not my type of music at all but totally love it…. Love the lyrics, the vocals, everything about this is awesome…. I first heard it 2 years mid Covid and so many of the lyrics resonate with the Covid isolation madness…. I brought a bunch of their albums after hearing this…. They are awesome.

This is an older version of the song. I prefer the New Deco version. LP have become less pretty, have broadened and deepened their music and Rebecca has exploded as a front person. Their cover of Wicked Game will rip your heart out. My favourite band.

Nu Deco version is nicer. Visually different yes. Healthier look now. No longer gothic pale drama vibe. Set list has evolved into a very dynamic performance.
