Dont sell yourself short on your bends! They're like everyones voice, all are different but beautiful in their own way!
@BarrackObamna
8 ай бұрын
Yeah, but I didn’t start learning guitar til I was 24 but when I started my bends sounded closest to joe Walsh, pretty harsh stabs with a quick pull and slow release. Now I can kind of copy most peoples bends, it usually is just where they like to anchor the bend at. And I’m no expert, so I don’t see why he feels stuck on that.. I’m pretty bad but I guess I’m weird in that I can copy bends almost perfect? I can’t play that well, but have been playing long enough to know when I’m in tune with the bends. I’m not a metal guy so Dimebag bends are the ones I can’t really do.

literally have had this video as my youtube bookmark just to get to youtube for at least 5 years already.
Masterpiece !
While the 'theory-speak' language is Spanglish to me, watching u disect n learn it (while showing us) is WAY COOL!!!
Top 3 performances I've seen anytime anywhere
So Good SO GOOD!! Thank you so much! You really do make me wanna pick up a guitar and , if nothing else, get at least One Note better
YEP!!!!!!!!!! She is really great!
❤❤❤❤❤ I love your tutorial 🎸🎸🎸🎸💯💯
This is such an amazing performance - I wish to got to see this side of Alicia more often, where she lets loose and lets her amazing talent shine. I love John Mayer, but he is playing second fiddle in this one.
i will comment at 16:40 that the minor licks in a major key is something he is definitely still doing.. and doing well/tastefully! watch his recent performance with ed sheeran at foxborough.
2 awesome songs, singers, and musicians !!❤🔥
What I love about Alicia Keys is that, when she sings, you can tell that she means every single word. She’s the truth.
dug this performance seen it many times. she is a goddess, john was ok this performance to me. Great vid
As if you were going to give two of the best live performers of the last 20 years anything less than a 10/10 :P They killed this performance. Sad that people nowadays forget there are performers at this level. Love that she reminded him singers run thing at 27 mins as well :)
This is probably the best mash up ever. Her singing gravity. I’m melting. John before the dead. Try some umphreys start with ja junk or all in time.
When John Mayer won the Grammy for “daughters” he broke his award in half and gave it to Alicia keys for this song as he believed she deserved it. He was right

@@NickJardine There's a video of it on KZread, the 2019 Grammys I believe where they put it together for 1 night. It was a special moment for sure. :)
You love her dont you! 🙂 I know I do and have for years! This is such an amazing performance!
Im drunk sitting at my couch and I stumble upon this video (I watched the thing like a thousand times) I AM STOKED
Love it
I remember showing this video to ex friends of mine who were like "mmm kay we'll humor you" at first and by the end of it were like "thank you" and would randomly put it on while playing some inane board game. Its stunning musicianship top to bottom.
Soooooooooo good.
You know it's good when Michael is teaching every single phrase.
I don't understand anything he says but I love his enthusiasm!
Hi Michael, here's a tipp for you. Dancer by Idles is an absolute banger with the simplest of riffs you could imagine!
“Don’t be afraid to just tag that mother f’r sometimes” 😂😂
Thanks!
the flow and groove of this for guitar reminds me of always be my baby by mariah carey. that would be great to dive into.
Here to support the love of music for all, you in yours and ability to teach, and the rest who understand to some degree the intricacies.
You gotta do “I don’t want to go that way” - paper kites Huge fan!
Hey Michael. This performance is all passion. Alicia’s voice has that power to grab your heart. Wow she’s amazing. I’d be terrified to play alongside. Lucky Johns not a shabby player. All the talent set aside for me went missing in the mail and went to John. The timing is sensational. It’s unbelievable. The breathing. Good to hear from you Micheal. Nice tone by the way.

I’ll follow up. I was lucky to have lessons from big Jim Sullivan and he helped me with solos I had to have prepared. He always said I should sing it first and then that was the right path. Thanks so much for your vids Michael, they inspire me.
Dont sell yourself short on your bends! They're like everyones voice, all are different but beautiful in their own way!

I’m not a metal guy so Dimebag bends are the ones I can’t really do.
legend
This is the song where I finally really “got” diatonic harmony. And the 6-2-5-1. And diminished passing chords. It has all these classic moves in one beautiful, digestible song. Check out James Bay’s cover for another amazing take on this one.
Another great vid Michael! Would LOVE a video from Dire Straits Rockpalast show. Dealer's choice on the song
3:17 "that's so hot" BRO IM LAUGHING HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA Caught me off guard

I remember finding Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, and Norah Jones all around the same time I'm just thinking what did I do to deserve this. I echo all of your feelings towards Alicia
The tone I drives to get from my amp came from Johns tone in this video. The only thing I could describe it as when I was looking for it was “I want my amp to sound like a pop not a ping” 😂
One of the greatest duets I've every seen. And I've little interest in her music. *** Interestingly, I'm working on Franklin's Tower and this analysis helps me understand both. Connections, the beauty of music, but completely unexpected in this case. Great video. Thanks.
man alicia keys is just not human
please react to yussef dayes - love is the message live from abbey road!
"Dont be scared to just tag that mother effer sometimes"- Michael Palmisano
@25:51 and then beyond you showed a lick I really wanted and was like how did he do that. So I took your advice when I heard the ear worm. Stacking wins for us all. Don't be afraid to just tag that... I don't know if it's just my mind or I am having a Samuel L moment, but i can't not hear it....25:10. LMFAO
Came for the guitar lesson, stayed for the life lessons
My impression has always been that John didn't go for the final call and response phrase not because he couldn't, but because there wasn't space for it and it would've been far too busy had he squeezed it in before the coda
You should check out Eva Cassidy. Seriously!
