Guitar SECRETS - How To Just 'Pick Up & Play" (Simple Steps) 😲

This is possibly my most valuable lesson, one from a while back that I have edited to better quality. Learn how easy it is to start playing along with any song. This is where guitar playing begins to become an expressive exercise rather than a copying one. Enjoy!

Hi Tony. I'm 71 and have been strumming open cords for 60 years. I was lead singer in a band 35 years ago. I just strummed along with the band while I sang. Recently I've decided I want to go further in my guitar journey. Don't know how far I will get but this video has helped me reach my first goal. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Subscribed!

Very useful information. I remember almost understanding this back in the mid seventies when jamming with mates. Then work, family and lots of other stuff took over. Now retired and hoping to get into guitar again (got head memory and no muscle memory at the moment!), this should get my fingers moving again. Thanks 👍

Thanks for this. You make it look easy. Definitely not easy, but I’ll work on it. I’m a definite newbie. I bought my first guitar at age 67 and have just turned 71. I’m one of those who practice like crazy, give up for a time, then come back. My guitar sits beside my couch, so is at hands reach. I’m at the point now, that I’m content with where I’m at. I admire those, like yourself who can play, but I have resigned to the sense that I will never get where I would like to be. I pick my guitar up when the feeling hits me and plunk away, making sounds that kinda, sorta sound like music. This pentatonic scale is quite musical and I can see where it will come in handy. I DO know how to find the key using the same method that you’ve shown, so now I just need to practice the scale as you played it. Thanks again.

You can do it . . . I am the same age . . . messed with guitar and mandolin all my life . . . at 60 I said I am going to become competent on the mandolin. I took some lessons, but they weren't as helpful as I figured, I knew the theory . . . so I just started practicing and practicing and if you will stick with it, you'll be amazed at how good you can become. It just comes to you as osmosis. You start playing riffs, and you don't know where they come from. It's not an accident that famous guitarists, carried around their instrument when they were at school and practice at breaks and lunch. Practice, practice . . . it works. Cheers.

I’m often excited, play until my fingers hurt and then hang it up. I’m content with that. It’s all good. It makes me happy for the moment and every win is encouraging.
