Guitar Hero 3's NEAR IMPOSSIBLE Achievements

The hardest achievements I've done on this channel so far.
Made slightly easier because I've played this game on/off for 15 years.

Most, if not all songs in GH games are made artificially more difficult. It's part of the reason why there was a decent amount of players who noticed and jumped ship to RockBand, because they used far more accurate note tracks for those games.

Quick tip regarding the Lou fight on Expert: After your first powerup, Lou gets a huge stream of green notes. If you pulled Whammy from your first powerup, and use it here, you will knock him out with only one powerup, ending the song long before it gets really hard. You can also do this with Broken String if you hit his green, which is a 1 in 5 chance. If you really are struggling, restart the fight until you both get Whammy and he doesn't get something that makes it borderline impossible for you to get whammy, and you can basically skip the fight.

Man I loved the guitar battles in the game, that's just one thing games like clone hero couldn't ever beat. I feel like if they just released a modern day guitar hero for the PC, added in all the nostalgia bait characters, released some instruments and let modders do the work that copyright wouldn't let them do then that would be all it'd take to make an amazing timeless classic.

That's a matter of personal preference, I'm glad Clone Hero exists, because without it GHWTDE would not have happened, but in many ways it's geared toward the kind of people doing insane FCs of meme charts who prefer the looser timing window reminiscent of GH3 and don't mind the barebones presentation compared to the GH/RB series. As far as just having a huge collection from each GH/RB game and playing casually on Expert (not usually looking for FCs just maybe five-starring everything) I still think GHWTDE is preferable, but more for entertainment reasons than technical ones. @@VoltiXHD2

I, for some reason, learnt guitar hero on lefty flip. And a few years back, before I could play clone hero properly, I downloaded something called youtube flipper that let you mirror the videos and just loaded up youtube playthroughs of guitar hero songs and played to them. Good times.

This will sound quite odd but I've been playing Guitar Hero on PC with a keyboard pretty much exclusively (I'm ashamed to admit I couldn't get into playing it properly with a guitar controller). However, a friend of mine learned to play the game with a proper guitar controller so we played co-op quite a lot, even managed to 100% Mississippi Queen once. Thank you for this trip down memory lane, Guitar Hero 3 was my first game in the series.

All that being said, I COULD NOT beat the final boss battle. That was just too much, and I have lots of respect to anyone who can beat him on expert

Use the first power-up as the Whammy on Lou’s set of alt-strumming green notes and you can end the battle immediately to win without struggling. Trust me, try that and you’ll beat the Expert difficulty.

Another great video! GH3 is definitely one of the hardest games to get 1000G on. I played the game religiously back when it came out and only got to about the 800 mark (helped by a few glitches to unlock the lefty and controller achievements). I was good but a friend of mine was a real GH wizard and we even had some co-op high scores in the top 10 of the global rankings for a few songs - Me playing bass, of course!

To combat your overheating issue, might be worth doing some maintenance on the console. open it up and clean out any dust, and look at redoing any thermal paste/thermal pads on the system if they haven't been changed before (or in a few years at least). Another way to combat the over heating issue that's less invasive, point a fan at the console, even a small usb powered desk fan pointed at it will be enough to help - same principle as using a cooling plate for a laptop :)

Takes me back. I didn’t have any of the DLC, other than the free ones, so I could only grind Through the Fire and Flames for the 750k achievement. I have no idea how many times I played the song or even for how long but I hit the 740s about 5 or 6 times before I finally reached the mark. I ended up with a score of 812k. Funny how it goes sometimes. I never came close to that score again.

When I was a kid, I had GH3 for PS2, but I never had the money to buy a guitar. In my country they were really really expensive at the time. But yeah, I was one of those who managed to get through Expert on controller only. Admittedly it was extremely hard. Some songs (specially the ones with tapping and fast strumming, as you said) are awful. The battles took me hours. To complete took me weeks. I never managed to get 100% on any song on expert. Fond memories of the game, not very fond memories of barely scraping by most songs with the meter on orange/red. Awesome video, hope to see more!

When I was first learning the game I remember expert being really rough. If I attempted this again I think the only song that would give me issues would be raining blood! My lord that was so rough to five star!

14:08 I actually have beaten the career on expert on controller. There's a trick you can do for fast strumming where you can hold a higher fret and press lower frets and they count as an input on the higher fret. So, for example, you can hold yellow and quickly press green and red to strum a lot faster. I've also just naturally gotten really fast at greens and use 2 fingers to quickly press red whenever possible.

  • @thenativedude

i only played on controller growing up and managed to get myself enlightened guitarist and completed it on expert difficulty, theres a "glitch" type of strumming when you hold anything above reds "note" that you can press any colours "strings" to play the note as if you were strumming on the guitar rapidly, only green that "glitch" doesnt work on since theres no lower notes than that. watching this video made me wanna boot up GH3, had to stop playing since all the newer versions required a guitar

Though, I was a finger slider, not a hammer/tapper. That phrase "concentration face" sent me into an state of acute awareness that I was being stared at again despite it beng literally half my life ago 🤣 I personally never struggled with Knights of Cydonia, but that's unsurprising as I can actually play it on guitar.
