I was rolling with this one dude and I guess he knew that I thought he was new (despite not saying so) and he hit me with a Von Flue while drilling GUARD PASSES. I asked him how long he's been doing BJJ and he says, "Mmmm about 8 or 9 years. I've been off and on a lot." Dude was a 6'4 270lb purple belt and I was a 5'11 170lb newbie 🤣

    I tend to hit this choke very often in white belts or even some fresh blue belts (I'm a blue belt myself), but against some more experienced partners I struggle a lot. I believe that's because when they attack the guillotine, they trap the arm that is opposite to my head, so i can't hug over their arms/neck. Is there a way to ensure that, after passing the guard when you hit the takedown just as you did in the video, I get my arm free to position the choke properly?

  • @infiniterer287

    @infiniterer287

    11 ай бұрын

    This move fundamentally requires the opponent to make some minor mistakes: If they trap your arm, you're screwed. If they wrap their far leg on your body, you're screwed. If they use a high guillotine instead of standard guillotine, you're screwed.

    Dude you just taught me the con flue choke. I got the Shoulder and body weight pressure on Chin while in guard guillotine. I also pull wrist on forearm that has guillotine choke. But in the street I think closing the distance behind punches then use a No Gi Judo trip or throw. Just my opinion but your choke is awesome. I think doing a double leg in street bad idea cause you can mess up your knees real bad on concrete, gravel or asphalt.

    I’ve started hitting a modified kimura from the guillotine. I bait them to take it, and quickly stand up whilst controlling their outside wrist, and use my other arm against their hip to prevent them turning out and push my head towards theirs as I keep standing up. Got a lot of taps recently from this. Tough against heavy weights though. This is all against blue belts (I’m blue). Would love to hear people’s opinion and if anyone does this.

    Who is gonna hold a guillotine after you pass? If your getting Von Flued with any sort of regularity you need to revisit the basics.

    You can't have your legs that high, they'll reguard.

    You need to balance staying high for pressure, and staying low so they can't reguard. If you're on your knees you lose ability to drive into your opponent as your weight will be on your knees. You can off angle your near side leg to prevent the reguard

    SUPER risky... anyone with a decent guillotine is not going to let you end up in top side control while hanging onto the choke

    Don't try it on beginners when they hold the guillotine with both hands, it's difficult to tap or speak
