Del Toro's "Pinocchio", a decade-long passion project of his that was almost scrapped. And now here he is, accepting a Golden Globe for it. 100% earned. The movie is phenomenal (and Disney should be embarrassed).

Del Toro has always been such an advocate for art in all its forms, so much passion and respect. Great director, seems like a great guy. Animation is so undervalued despite the immense time and skill it takes to create; artists are amazing

Guillermo Del Toro is correct about animation. It is a medium not a genre. Which is why Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” was nominated for Best Picture in 1992. However, it is good that animation was given its own category. Since, the medium would be overlooked otherwise.

The best animated feature category is treated like total garbage though. The voters vote for the winner based on how "kid-friendly" it is and not by the actual quality. But this year will change all of that with Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio.

So glad that GDT’s Pinocchio won Best Animated Feature! Puss in Boots: The Last Wish proved exactly that as it became the best animated movie of 2022. Animation is for EVERYONE.

I personally enjoyed Puss in Boots more, but Pinocchio’s art design and how it told its story was miles beyond. It is interesting that both tackle death and mortality as themes.

Fun fact: Animation is harder to make than live action. I went to this Pixar exhibit museum in my local area and there was this attraction where you press a button to see the process of animating a scene in Coco, and animating one simple scene in the movie took several months to make.

It’s very likely that this could happen usually if an animated film wins the Golden Globe, Annie and especially the BAFTA or two out of three of them (but mostly the BAFTA) they go on to win the Best Animated feature award.

I want Puss in Boots 2 to win, i think Dreamworks really needs the win, but if Pinocchio wins i'll be happy as 🇲🇽 to see Guillermo win with a passion proyecto that took so much time to finish and so that he can keep expanding his speech, also i Will RIOT if Pixar wins

Pinocchio so far been stealing all the wins in other award shows so far so I think it’s Puss In Boots turn. Not saying I wouldn’t be ok with Pinocchio winning the Oscar’s, I would be fine with it, but my personal preference is Puss In Boots because of how it subverted my expectations and showing vast storytelling and beautiful animation, including a great, intimidating and threatening villain. And the funny thing is, Pinocchios in Puss In Boots The Last Wish so I think that gives it a better chance, lol

An apology letter?? It’s a summersault to drive Mickey’s head on the mud pie they made. This movie has nothing to apologise for the mud pile some other people made in some unrelated company, some place far away. It is an independent triumph of cinema and has no need to be linked to what Disney cranked out in 12 minutes flat

I would like to offer my sincere and heartfelt congratulations to Guillermo del Toro and his team as they win the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film. I hope they win the Oscar, as well....they absolutely deserve this win. Pinocchio was extraordinary....BY FAR the most perfect adaptation of the Pinocchio story I have seen put to film. Right up there with Disney's animated Pinocchio. They say it took him over a decade to finish this film and his love for it is clearly reflected in every detail of this amazing movie. Its FAR BETTER than both of the other two Pinocchios they released this year COMBINED.

Its the best pinocchio ever made

I really wanted Puss in Boots to win since it was hilarious and beautifully animated. It could have been the first Into the Spider-Verse inspired film to win. Well, there's always the Oscars but congrats to Guillermo. I give him props. He is a creative storyteller.

Kudos to Clare Danes and Guillermo Del Toro for not blowing their big moment by reminding us that animation is not a medium or a genre exclusively made for kids, which Halle Bailey and Lily James did at the Oscars a year earlier. I am not sure if Naomi Scott is just as guilty of it, because I think she tried to correct them when she said that some parents in the audience know what they are talking about. Sadly, it is hard for me to know if Naomi was actually trying to vouch for parents who enjoy animated movies aimed at kids without other kids who would watch the movies with them, or if she implied that the parents in the audience were less entertained by Luca and Encanto than their kids were. Against all odds, I am a tad hopeful that it was the former reason.
