Biography of the guest
Claire Nkamushaba, from Uganda in East Africa, is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Global Health at Gothenburg University in Sweden. Additionally, she possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management from Southern New Hampshire University_USA. She is a recipient of the prestigious Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals (SISGP), thus being a member of the Swedish Institute Network For Global Professionals (SI NFGP). Claire is ardently dedicated to advancing Global Health, and actively contributing to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs, particularly the objective of ensuring Good Health for all. She has also been able to acquire various other recognitions and is consistently propelled by a relentless commitment to advancement and growth.
Thelma Aretha Kaliu is a feminist leader, gender and development enthusiast with seven years of work and voluntary experience in promoting gender equality and development through feminist and human rights approaches in Malawi and Sub-Saharan Africa. She holds a postgraduate diploma in International Gender Studies from the University of Iceland, and Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Social Studies) from the University of Malawi. She got the SISGP scholarship to pursue a Master’s Degree in Gendering Practices at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Her passion lies in promoting the welfare of adolescent girls and young women, advocating for gender equality and climate and economic justice. She has imparted over 25000 adolescent girls and young women with life skills and knowledge to build their agency, bodily autonomy, confidence, economic independency, assertiveness and many more.
Professionally, Thelma has served with Plan International Malawi, UN Women, World University Service of Canada and currently with UNFPA in Malawi. She is also strong in gender program development, management, coordination, monitoring and evaluation and partnership building. She has extensive experience in GBV in emergencies, women economic empowerment, male engagement in gender equality; gender-responsive budgeting, child protection, humanitarian action, children, and youth programming and many more. Thelma is a member of the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) leading the Malawi youth chapter and the Young Feminist Network where she advocates for financial inclusion and women’s peace security.
Throughout her career, Thelma has actively promoted gender equality, (SGD 5) by changing intersecting, discriminatory social norms, practices, laws, and policies. She has proven to be passionate, determined and result-oriented in ending intersecting social injustices that hinder women and girls to enjoy their rights fully.

    Thank you for this video. Much appreciated. One question I have is on the part you mentioned about staying consistent to one SDG. For instance, my field of study covers different SDGs and my work experiences I have so far are related to at least 2 SDGs so what is your suggestion on this?

    I have a question on the date format. So my referees used YYYY-MM-DD through out and I noted at one section of the work experience form is YYYYMMDD.. Is this a problem?

    I'm sorry, but European are not required to pay tuition fees 😊 . And it is not just Africans but many developing countries. Check si.se.

    You are smoking weeds! Europeans don't even pay tuition let alone the scholarship. Africans who cannot pay rely on the scholarship.
