This month we look at one of the UK's biggest heritage railways, and their determination to play trains despite everything that's stood against them. It's April Fools today, and this is a preservation group that knows how to take a joke and do something different for publicity. Apologies in any information is inaccurate, such as which locos are owned by the SVR (there are so many!). Please feel free to correct any mistakes in the comments, nicely of course.

Great video! I forgot about Truro in BR Black, and I saw this video at the perfect moment, as I was preparing to build a Dapol City kit. And guess what I did? Built it in BR Black. There is a video of how I built it on my channel, and thanks for reminding me of this April Fools prank Stepney!

The painting of Taw Valley Purple is a brilliant idea by the Severn Valley, I don't think any loco is going to be more talked about when she get's unveiled and it certainly will draw a bunch of visitors to the railway which is always a good thing

I have a story about Arley station. Many years ago my sister belonged to a rambling club the chairman of which was also the stationmaster at Snow Hill station in Birmingham - so all the trips that they took had to start and finish at a railway station so he could use his free pass. A trip was organised to start at Arley station and several people who had come by car had gathered at the station to await the arrival of the train. Someone from the station came out and said "what are you waiting for - there are no trains hear today" - they replied oh yes there is - and a few minutes later along comes the train! and the chairman got out. - The train normally stopped at Bewdley but the chairman had used authority to extend the journey to Arley. Arley is one of my favorite places along the river Severn. In my day there was a passenger ferry operated by the current to get across the river but now there is a footbridge. Regards from Redruth Arnold

I was quite young, but my favorite railway experience happened when I was there. It was pouring rain, and quite dark, and it was the last train up to Kidderminster, perhaps the last of the day (though we're usually on the last train of the day). It was pulled by a diesel of some kind I think, and we were in a mk2 from memory, and it all just felt like I was back in the 70s on a mainline, not to mention its where I first saw flying scotsman in running order, and where I first saw Tornado, well, at all.

As an American, its really cool to see railroads like this. We don't have a lot of big heritage lines in the USA. If you ever get the chance to, TVRM is one of the greatest railroad museums in the eastern US and regularly runs steam powered trips.

Great pacing in this one, and Guide Rail as a whole. Never knew much about the SVR despite being fascinated by it so much. Little things like the mention of the potential new platform near the Safari area, turntable and that *they* are the ones constructing the Hydrogen Diesel were nice quick beat nuggets of info! And a great variety of footage as well!

Sure you could exclude the mention of a potential new turntable, given its a throwaway line that you could trim *IF* you had a timeframe limit (but you don't, eyyyy!) But it adds for little reactions that I for eg had like "Really? Nice thats interesting, hadn't heard that before"

A few mistakes I am afraid; 1/ The Railway never in the end paid for Bridgnorth Bypass Bridge, there was a discrepancy in the plans so in the End Shropshire Council had to pay for it. 2/ It is pronounced Hagley Hall as in Hag / Witch not Haygley Hall 3/ Bridgenorth is in Shropshire not Worcestershire 4/ On Leaving Highley you pass from Shropshire into Worcestershire 5/ it is Boyle Viaduct not Borel Viaduct 6/ Arley Arboretum not Aberitum A good video spolt by not doing enough research from SVR Volunteer.
