Grateful to PGurus for hosting Sinu Joseph whose book explains the traditional practices with science

it has a great pleasure to hear the talks of Sinuji, I do agree with Sinuji that both the genders should have the knowledge of Mensuration, and also the leave cycles, I lived in Indonesia for some year, and learnt that they were given monthly leave for women who are working, I hope our country also follow it.

So well articulated by Sinuji ...with regards to the question of being introduced in education system....she made a very pertinent point that it needs to be integrated and a fair amount of our Ayurveda,chakras,Pranayam knowledge . Else it would not be understood, appreciated .

you can't have sensible debate with hypocriticals. Please don't waste time in such debate rather try to keep your point of view out there in best possible ways. Like write a book, do research make videos write blog make short movies documentary posts on social media.....keep as authentic as possible and don't be hypocrite...Example there are lots of translation issues of hindu text among western Indologist..you can do 2 things either critic them one by one or just provide unabridged translation of the text( that is what Bibek Debroy is doing he has given us unabridged translation of many of our texts...lets hope young people read them...bcz there are lots of misinformation or rather disinformation floating around....just watch discussion on mahabharat on ORF platform.)

@@nirbhaynandan72, Everybody turn to science when they find religion restricting them from doing something. So Sinu mam would have more influence if she debates this issue with any scientist.

Mother's brother brings that we call it in TN 'Maman Cheer'. He brings lot of gifts and food items for the girl. It's just a celebration.

Mr.Sree Iyer , this video is of seminal importance. Sinu is a great pioneer. We owe her all our gratitude. Plese take this subject personally to the widest possible audience. Please try and organise at least 2 special web meeting sessions between (a) PGurus , Sahana Singh , Sinu Joseph and Dr. Deepak Chopra (b) the other with Rajiv Malhotra. These are brand figures , can impact large audiences. This is a critical.part of Indic Renaissance which has to be taken across cultures. The govt should involve with Ayush ministry in a big outreach.. There will be in all likelihood some political noise too from expected quarters. We need to get the aesthetic squeamishness out of most of us westernised people to deal with this subject especially since it will challenge a big medico-industrial establishment. Congrats to your team.

Most ridiculous is when i explain this to my people they say - what will the men think when you dry a period cloth in the sun? So its not possible to follow traditional practices even at home- because the men in home will feel dirty about it!! Stupid urbanisation

Namaste, please clarify is it right n any scientific reason to follow 3 days isolation during menstruation which is followed in many traditional houses in India

When Draupadi was dragged into the Kaurava court she was in rtu kaal she was bleeding and surely she was not using anything like a cloth or a pad etc. In ancient India women isolated themselves and rested etc during menstruation

Wonderful discussion. I see one more issue with sanitary napkin and diaper, it's been thrown just like that and it's an issue for the domestic and wild animals. There is no proper system for recycling or disposing.

in most instances these studies are sponsored by mnc's with the final intent to market more products in "untapped" markets. we need the knowledge to be introduced to teens headon, to give them the strength to challenge advertising myths & stereotypes, and make informed choices

if the government is taking steps to make sex education available in schools, i suspect, sessions like this is essential first and foremost, start young, in schools, so the seed of discovery and curiosity is planted in young girls before assumptions and stereotypical mindsets and attitudes are firmed. Make such information available , directly from experts and not in the form of workshops sponsored by brands & products. What a lot of deep knowledge Sinu Joseph has.

At around the twenty minute mark, I suddenly felt bad for all the infants around the world. Someone is addressing the issue of using sanitary napkins for women, but what about infants who are made to wear diapers until they're three or four 😢

Quilt is OK but not Pad. It needs to be changed constantly if you feel it's wet, NOT think and take everything on Convenience level.

I don't understand what has the use of a pad or a cloth got to do with dysmenorrhoea? It could hv been better if the host asked more on the physiological demerits of using a pad and how that is connected with dysmenorrhoea. After all a pad or cloth just acts as an external absorbent. How does that affect the body? I feel the urban setting had a toll on their overall health which induced that difference and not the use of pad.

Also the chemicals used in the pad could make it much more problematic than a piece of cotton.

Cotton cloth has naturally cooling capacity and keeps the area aerated. And it's true coz I have been using them and the difference is real.

Why a christian chooses to write about Hindu Civilizational glories? Sinu Wont Convert because she thinks CHrist is the redeemer also she will take all chances to follow trending hinduism. Mr Iyer is benevolent enough

Please do not bring religion into this and understand that Sinu is referring to "Culture". One can be of any religion, but practice "Bharatiya" Culture. Secondly, Sinu has contributed to some of the most prestigious interactions including Ted Talks etc, therefore PGurus being benevolent dies not arise

@@RajVideocast Please read her article fully before commenting...she is a practicing Hindu!!! You said that you are an atheist? Why did you leave the Catholic Church or rather Christianity? All through my school years, it was very stifling to be a Christian. One, because it necessitates one to look down upon non-Christians and two, because a prominent aspect in Christian faith is guilt. Let me share a few examples of this. In school, the Christian teachers would quietly weave in disrespect for other religions. Our history teacher would tell the class that Christianity is real because the existence of Christ is documented in history, whereas Hinduism is just mythology without historical evidence. As I entered adulthood, I noticed how if anyone went against the religion, for example by marrying a Hindu, then the family and church would go on a mission to induce guilt. I have closely seen such methods wreaking havoc on the state of mind of practising Christians, whose faith then borders on fanaticism. They reach a state where you cannot reason with them anymore, as they have lost their mental balance. When I was about 15 or 16 years of age, I started to rebel and question everything. Since then, if someone talks to me in the context of being a Christian, my instant response is that I am an atheist. To me, it simply means that I will not accept something just because I was born into it, and certainly not if it is forced down my throat using guilt. Having said that if I am asked the same question in the context of being a Hindu, my response will be very different. In the context of being a Hindu, I am definitely not an atheist, because Hinduism doesn’t require one to believe anything that is not directly experienced. For me, experience comes before belief. According to you, what is unique about Sanatan Dharma? When I write about cultural practices in Hinduism, people ask why I do not write about Christianity. As a religion, Hinduism is certainly the mother of all religions, given that it encompasses all the different faiths, doctrines and theories that exist. And Sanatan Dharma is the grand mother of all philosophies. In other words, when we want to understand a subset, we must study the superset. In fact, it is through the lens of Hinduism that I was able to understand the techniques in Christianity and even appreciate why faith-based healing and prayers work for some people, when it is not twisted for socio-political reasons. As I understand, the Ultimate Truth can only be reached through a path that understands and accepts all methods, and that’s what is unique about Sanatan Dharma. Apart from that, what is rarely discussed or even understood fully, is the deep and subtle science behind the Hindu tradition. Every practice is rooted in this science. When we understand the science behind it, we can’t help but be in awe of this ancient system.

Don't just look at the name which she goes by. Look at her, what she says, how she says it, whether you can accept it. One doesn't have to go through a ritualistic conversion and proclaim to be a Hindu. I am not even sure there are specified procedures for it. Sinu Joseph is more Hindu in my eyes, than I ever coild be. My thanks and respects to her for she is doing.
